External HD-Same old question [Archive]

I'm looking to purchase an External HD firewire400/800. I've researched the forums as well as reading up. My questions are: what's the best place to purchase from and what brand works the best for FC. I know it's been asked but they're just too much to filter through so please any leads would be great!

Fairly new to this but I have been looking into one of these harddrive's by Other World Computing, i think this may be where i get an external harddrive/memory.

Any user's using OWC hardrive out there?

btw, what is the difference in some of these HD's , some say "striped" or "mirrored", not sure what that means. ?

i have two owc hds as in my sig.

the striped and mirrored is raid level 0 and 1. striped is two drives with half of the data going to one drive and half on the the other drive..so u can have higher throughput of data. mirrored is raid 1 with two drives one being a copy of the other..need more data on raid..search forums..its all over.
