Sure! Download Windows Media Player for OS X (that's a contradiction). I'd link you to it, but MS's site seems to be down for the moment.

yes. Your first port have call should have been the microsoft mac website since wmv is windows media video.

for future reference, http://microsoft.com/mac/

[although it does appear to be down at the moment, you can download it here though: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/]

you can download the mac version of windows media player from there for free. Be warned, its crap.

Useful website for mac software:

www.macupdate.com
www.versiontracker.com
www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/

Edit: jinx!

This si somewhat related - Is there a way to record streaming Windows Media Video in OS 9 or X? Perhaps a program, or a hack for WMP?

I know with WMA files there is a little program called DiVXWMAConverter and can be found here... http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19676

It works really well for me.

I think VLC also plays .wmv (if I remember correctly...) it's the best player anyway..!

check here:
VLC media player (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738)

One Problem with WMV's is that many new ones have a new codec to verify ts contents, from Windows Media 9. Unfortunately, you cannot play a WM9 file on a Mac because when you try, it opens your bowser to the WMP page, and tells you to download an update for WMP-OSX, just no such upgrade exists.

BTW: The Mactopia site is back up. (8:28 PDT)

As so aptly put before, the propietary player from M$ sucks...specifically no playlists capability, visuals, etc. Or am i missing something?

No visuals! How is that bad? All they do is waste CPU power.
