Upgrading system when getting new MBP

I'll soon be getting a new MBP ( probably going up from my 1.8 intel MBP to 2.4 MBP ) -

Now I have tons ( and tons ) of **** on my computer - what I'd like to know is:

What is the best way to migrate my system without loosing all my setting, and yet still get a clean efficient OS on the new machine?

Use Migration Assistant with Target Disk Mode (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583) to get all your data across. It's probably best to manually reinstall your apps and reconfigure your settings though... Migration Assistant can be a bit dodgy sometimes.
