Anyone's touch shipped from Apple Online Store Yet?

Has anyone's Touch shipping status changed from Prepared For Shipping?


This is getting ridculous becuase as soon as they started showing up in stores all online orders seemed to go to prepared for shipping.

And now we cant cancel and buy one from a store.

Nope mine, which was one of the first to change to prepared to ship, has not changed since Thursday night. I am hoping that they will ship on Monday but I have sent a letter to Mr. Jobs about the issue and I hope to hear back from them soon.

Yeah, they "verify" the card, and the ability to pull the requested amount. Some debit cards only allow a certain amount to go through in a day, and you have to call the bank in order to verify that you are actually the one buying the item. Mine is also a credit card so my limit is 5K.. They did the same thing when i first got the touch, but then the money is put right back until the physically ship it.

Regarding the types of cards...

In the UK Apple charge your card immediately if it is a debit card (Switch/Maestro, Solo, Visa Electron, Visa Debit). I ordered a Touch an hour after the keynote ended and Apple have been earning interest on my £269 ($540) since. To be fair though - Apple HAVE to take the money straight away due to the way these cards work.

If you pay on a credit card, the money is pre-authorised and then taken just before shipment.

The annoying thing is, if you cancel an order on a debit card it takes about three days for the refund to actually show in your account. I cancelled my iMac order so I could go and buy one in store rather than wait two weeks for shipping and then had to wait the three days! :'(

Anyway - my Touch is still showing 'Not Yet Shipped' with a ship date of 28th and delivery date of 1st/2nd.

I highly doubt that your touch has shipped yet. From what I have seen they have been preparing to ship them in order from the time of purchase like they should and mine hasn't shipped yet.

well they most likely shipped on friday, most companies don't do saturday shipping...and it depends on the shipping you chose is when you will get it....i ordered two days after the keynote address and called on saturday and they hadn't shipped mine...so now im calling best buy to see if they have them tomorrow and canceling hahaha

BTW I was thinking that it would be realyl cool if there was a Bible app availble, either through itunes by purchase or availbel to download onto it. Anyone heard of such a thing. It would be easier then taking my Bible with me and I will have the Word of God with. Plus if I need to refernce it in a conversation with someone it is immediately availble becuase I will carry this everywhere in my pocket but my Bible doesnt fit.:(

Actually, 7-8 day shipping is normal for where I live. :(

My iMac was 2 weeks late, a week because of parts, and thus upgraded shipping and another week for who knows what..I was not happy, that is until I set it up. I am going to hope the same with the iPod, though I'd really like to have it for this weekend.

I talked to the customer service rep who had no idea that stores (apple and BB) had touchs at all. She said that they were still shipping on the 28th and that I was good that mine was preparing to ship. And they cant cancell it. So i asked to speak with a supervisor.

She explained why they could not cancel it, (lots of ipod in warehouse ahving to go find mine and delete the order infeasible) so I said ok then what can I do becuase i want to cancel it becuase i can pick it up at bb and apple store.

She said only thing they could do is email me a return slip and as soon as I get it slap the return label on it and had it back to the fedex guy, paid shipping money returned to account within two to three days after they recieved it back. Said it was quickest way becuase they would know it was being returned. So I said I will do that then. And then I said somethign about it being ridiculous that it has been preparing to ship for 4 day and not shipped. She didnt belive and looked my order history. Saw it had been preparing to ship on Friday morning very early (aprox 3:00AM est) and not yet ship... she was very kind and said if I would wait for it to show up via shipping she would drop the price $100:eek: Then, she confimed so we have a 16GB Ipod Touch for $299. Plus $14 tax!!!! I am at work so I could celebrate very much but I am extremly happy.

I have never heard of a company do that, esspeccially on a low profit item. On the plus side I will most likely get different batch then current batch which seems screwed up. (screen and audio)

I am one very happy apple customer:D

And to think I had to finangle HP to answer a simple question about the update they do. :mad:

At $299 even if he has to arrange for a swapout through an Apple store he still got a helluva good deal on the 16GB.

He could use it for months and resell it for not much less than he paid for it.

Well I just got off the phone with an Apple rep and he was really no help. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and he really didn't want me to talk to him but I said that I would like to. After talking to the supervisor and explaining that it was ridiculous that I ordered right after the Keynote but I could go into the store and pick one up today. He said that he could either email me a return shipping label or that if I would still want the online order that he could drop the price $50 for the 8gb and that it would be shipping this week. So I said that was great and Thanks so much for the help. :apple:

Yeah, I realized that soon after I wrote that. But I am hoepful the hold up means that they are delayign to confim the screens are going to be good becuase if they are packaged together with other prepored to ship then they most likely are other from last weeks production run.

Like many others, preordered 20 min. after keynote. Today, I have a (good) 16GB Touch bought in-store on Sat., and my "preordered" 16Gb still stuck at "prepared for shipping."

On my 1st call yesterday, rep. said he'd try to cancel it as an exception, and I could return (mail back) if not.

On my 2nd call, today, rep. said he'd escalate the issue and really try to get it cancelled. But if not - and the rep told me this - just refuse the package when it's delivered, and FedEx will ship back to Apple, and I'll get a full refund.

Now, I knew you could refuse a package and this would happen. But the Apple rep. himself "authorized" it.

I'd strongly encourage everyone in this situation to do the same. If you accept the package, you may have to pay for return shipping, tracking, insurance, etc. If you just refuse it, it's all Apple's cost and concern.

Note: the reps. became much more willing to help when I explained that I'd already bought one in stores while my preorder still languishes.

She offered it after I explained that the status changed from "Not Yet SHipped" to "prepared to ship" on Friday morning and it had been like that ever since and now I cant cancel it. She sounded realyl surprised when I said that and she checked my order status and history of it and said yeah that ridiculous. And then made a choice of $100 off or I could return it for free with a return label and the credit back to my card.

I didnt ask her for anything, I was expecting like a $15 credit or giftcard to use on iTunes.

I just called and either the Customer Services really reps don't what's going on or have been told to stick with the company line. I asked what was the advantage of a pre-order was and why all the stores already have them in stock. She didn't know that the Touch was already in the stores and gave me $25 off for my inconvenience.

As for the actual ship date, even though the order still says Ship date of 9/28, she said since it was "Prepared for Shipment" it would probably ship before that date.

Here is my story... I went to a local Apple store where they had ipodtouches in... I talked to a rep and they said that they couldn't cancel my preorder (this was earlier in the week when I was visiting home). So I was like okay thats fine. Then I hear that Best Buy has gotten their stock in and I was pissed that mine had not shipped out. I called Apple today and talked to rep that gave me 10.00 off. I thought that was okay until I read what other people have gotten off. I felt like I was not worth much to Apple. I eventually got 62.00 dollars off (the shipping and an extra 50.00) after talking to a supervisor. :apple:

b. There is no such thing as overnight shipping on the iPod touch b/c they are shipping from overseas, and they have to go through customs firs, hence the best shipping is 2-3 days
c . She also gave me her personal extension and said that if it has not shipped to me by the 28th, call her and she would guarantee me some type of compensation.

I live in St Paul, Minnesota and I placed my order online last friday after learning it was available in stores. Like some of the people in this forum my iPod is set to ship by Sept 28 and arrive between Oct 4-5. I've been to the apple store and I get the same robotic response, "the iPod Touch will arrive at the end of Sept" (I get the same response about Leopards arrival, exept it will ship at the end of Oct). Anyone from a midwest state having better luck? Maybe Chicago stores have the iPod Touch in stock?

I talked to the customer service rep who had no idea that stores (apple and BB) had touchs at all. She said that they were still shipping on the 28th and that I was good that mine was preparing to ship. And they cant cancell it. So i asked to speak with a supervisor.

She explained why they could not cancel it, (lots of ipod in warehouse ahving to go find mine and delete the order infeasible) so I said ok then what can I do becuase i want to cancel it becuase i can pick it up at bb and apple store.

She said only thing they could do is email me a return slip and as soon as I get it slap the return label on it and had it back to the fedex guy, paid shipping money returned to account within two to three days after they recieved it back. Said it was quickest way becuase they would know it was being returned. So I said I will do that then. And then I said somethign about it being ridiculous that it has been preparing to ship for 4 day and not shipped. She didnt belive and looked my order history. Saw it had been preparing to ship on Friday morning very early (aprox 3:00AM est) and not yet ship... she was very kind and said if I would wait for it to show up via shipping she would drop the price $100:eek: Then, she confimed so we have a 16GB Ipod Touch for $299. Plus $14 tax!!!! I am at work so I could celebrate very much but I am extremly happy.

I have never heard of a company do that, esspeccially on a low profit item. On the plus side I will most likely get different batch then current batch which seems screwed up. (screen and audio)

But you are covered under a warranty for one year from the purchase date anyways so if you do have a bad screen you can still get a replacement. They have to honor their warranties.

If I have a bad screen and I return it immediately to a store to get an exchanged but I get another bad one, does the 14 days restart when I get the exchanged one or is still off the original date?

Also, if we have a warranty for a year why not wait a month or two to go back to the apple store and get a replacement? I know it might take a while because they might not do a direct exchange but waiting will ensure you have a good one.

I'm not sure, my roomates dad works at UPS and they dont upload until it is scanned in from being droped off the truck at a distribution center. Once they get all them scanned off the truck, they send out the tracking numbers to their system which then updates the online tracker but that all takes awhile.

I think it proably take a while for it to load into the fedex system.

Mine is the same with an estimated delivery of Friday morning. I just called FedEx and asked them why my package with overnight shipping wont be here until three days after it shipped and she said that she doesnt know. All she told me was that the estimated delivery is Friday. She went on to say that its not yet in the US and that it could either be sooner than Friday or later depending on US Customs.

they are usually dead on with domestic US, but with customs in the way you NEVER know it could move either way on you. GOOD LUCK!

The flight tracker says the flight lasted 45 minutes, and the flight track ends in the Yukon Territory.

So either the tracker is messed up, or the plane crashed!

Mine has the LL in the serial and it has the screen issues. I love it otherwise! I'm gonna wait 'til the mess is sorted out and see if Best Buy has the good ones, but first I will seek out Apple's help...
