I just got an MBP (first mac ever) and all the fonts everywhere are super super small. In windows you could change the default font size, but I can't find anything like that in Mac OS X. I figured out how to change text size within Safari, with Command+ but that's only in Safari, and it resets to its small size after I close it. Where is this setting? Can't seem to find it.
thankssss

Try Tinkertool (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html).
And a small warning: please note that bumping is against the rules, and may cause threads to be closed and worse...

You can also try lowering the screen resolution in System Preferences if you're having that much trouble.

Err.. no, i don't want to reduce the resolution of the screen. I just want fonts in menus and in programs to be bigger. The program mentioned above only allows you to change the default font size in safari (i think, maybe i am wrong there.)
I just assumed that a basic function of an OS would be to change the default size of fonts displayed in all programs (including menus, and everything else). I found this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1008919&tstart=30) and it appears that OS X does not have this function?? I can probably live with the small fonts, but it is just a bit of a hindrance, and it puzzles me that there is no way of changing it.
Also, by the small amount of attention my question is getting, I assume that small font sizes are just a normal part of life for people using OS X?

As Mitthrawnuruodo suggested, try TinkerTool. It's a fantastic tool for a variety of system tweaks, and it does exactly what you're looking for.

Actually, this has always been a roadblock to my purchase of a Mac. Have you been able to try the Tinkertool someone mentioned earlier on? I really want to buy a Mac, but not at the cost of being able to change the default font settings ... like we can do with XP.

I have exactly the same problem. The software manual is written for super
experts, not normal intelligent people. Any answer you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
