Which midi controller?

I am extremely frustrated, because my old midi controller (M-Audio Evolution MK-249c) does not work with my powerbook. It is supposed to be class compliant, but it doesn't work..this is supposedly a documented problem.

So, are there any of you out there successfully using a dedicated midi controller? I wanted something with realtime controls, so I was thinking something by Novation...What are YOU guys using??

How is yours working wonderfully? Mine refuses to work!!! Did you install any drivers?
