Ok so this is my story. i ordered an ipod touch 16gb on september 14th from bestbuy.com via giftcard. i bought an insanely big gift card since i don't have a credit card and had to preorder it online. So i got in on the 18th, via 1 day shipping and it was awesome at first. until i figured out i had the negative black problem. it is really bad too. so i delt with it for a day and now today i had a day off work so i tried to get an exchange. of course every best buy and apple store around is out and i called best buy and they were complete JERKS and told me i had to send it in and then wait on the backorder with everyone else. so i went to the store and they couldn't do anything since my store was told they WON'T be getting ANY touches. so i called apple and they said i could exchange it at a store but the stores don't have any touches. ha, wow. so i called best buy back and was like LOOK, i want an ipod sent to me but i'm not returning this thing til i know it is in the mail. so the lady ranted on and on and on. finally she ended up crediting my account 11 dollars (for my shipping since i complained that i paid for something to get here faster when it was defective) AND SHE RESHIPPED AN IPOD TOUCH. i have an ipod touch on my best buy account on backorder for ZERO dollars. so as soon as they come in stock they will ship it. here is the catch, i ordered via gift card without a credit card attached to my account so they can't charge me for my first one if i don't return it when i get the new one. so i guess i don't have to return it to the store and get a free ipod. i'm pretty happy.

They'll get collections on your ass when they find out. I'm sure they'll do an assessment of their record and see the discrepancy..

They're not stupid.

They're going to find out - and they had your address.

It will probably come with a prepaid label inside your next box so you reuse the box to ship the bad one back.. pretty standard

i don't think so..

I'm sure there is a credit card associated with your gift card... they will charge that original credit card if you do not return your defective ipod touch.

yeah but i paid for that with cash. about all they can do is send a bill to my address and then i'd just send the ipod back. but i mean honestly, i doubt you would return the thing after talking on the phone for 2 hours with some asian person who you can't understand. its frustrating.

what is that supposed to mean?

its supposed to mean some person over in china was talking to me with an accent. we all know these support lines are in foreign countries because they are cheaper and stuff. i couldn't understand her that well. and yeah, how is 400 dollars going to hurt a company THAT big. its their fault anyways its not like i hacked them or stole it.

Don't play the whole "Steal from the rich cause their rich and I'm....well I'm just not rich" game. You paid for one iPod and thats what you should get. Yes you had some trouble with it and maybe they owe ya a $15 iTunes card but thats about it. Do the right thing and return the defective one.

theft is wrong and a crime regardless of the wealth of the person or company you are stealing from.

everyone talks with an accent.

You should have gone to best buy and stamped your feet and cried a lot until they gave you a touch immediately because you are certainly entitled to it.

This isn't a bad troll -- regardless.

you are a disgrace.

He's a disgrace for sticking it to a company that voids a customer's warranty on an Xbox 360 by popping the sticker so that they don't have to deal with it? Or is he a disgrace because he's sticking it to a company that has punks that like to copy all of your docs, porn and other miscellaneous stuff when you bring your PC in for service?

Listen kid, I'm sure this is just a case of BestBuy's web site being incorrect. What you see on the website doesn't mean that's what will happen. If the iPod doesn't show up, I'm sure your naive ass will call best buy back and say "Hey, I was suppose to get a free iPod, it said so on your website. Where is it?"

It sort of is like you stole it.

BestBuy: "Okay, ship us your bad one, we've shipped you a good one".
You: "Uhhh...No...I don't want to."

It doesn't really work like that. That's like saying "Yeah, I walked into the store and grabbed one and ran out, none of the employee's saw me, so it's not like I stole it! It's not stealing if you don't get caught!"

I would just save yourself a lot of soon to be headache and just ship it back...Like you're supposed to. It's not a moral issue, they're sending you a good one to REPLACE your bad one. It's not complicated.

If you sold someone a car, and they drove it for a day but later decided that they didn't like it, would you give them a different car, and let them keep your original car that you sold them?
