Is there any way to disassemble the Apple Pro Keyboard in order to clean it?

I have a bunch of junk in mine, as well as my Apple optical mouse.

On a related note, this there any way I can take apart the mouse as well? There is a lot of dust in it.

Thanks in advance.

I did take apart my keyboard about a month ago. Mine had an unusual amount of eye lashes in it.

Taking it apart is not as easy as you would think, and it takes a while to complete the task. Additionally, there is a screw that is covered by the sticker on the back, that you must puncture to reveal the screw-meaning you will have a small hole in the Apple sticker on the back.

If you want to trade a small hole in for a cleaner keyboard, go for it. Just a do a search for keyboard and cleaning in the forums and you should find plenty of threads about how to successfully take it apart.

Although there is an Apple logo/sticker on the back of mine, it is behind the plastic casing of the keyboard. Will I have to drill a hole through the plastic?

no it's not the apple logo, it's the information sticker, and yes you'll need to puncture it. but don't drill any plastic!! also, don't even try taking apart the internal keypad assembly... it's just bad.

with this and any other thing you're disassembling, just look for the way they assembled it, and go in reverse. they had to get it together somehow, so do it step by step. occasionally (especially on portables) you will need a guide, as things are kind of jimmy-rigged...

ok on most apple pro keyboards the junk is on the keys in between the keys or under the keys...the simplest way to clean this is to pop off the keys...they come off quite easily and make it much prettier to use. You can take it apart but why waste your time.
