Anyone else cut their iPhone earbuds in half?

For serious music listening, I keep my Ultimate Ears in my backpack, so after getting sick of having my iPhone earbuds get all tangled up, I just cut off the side without the microphone.

Now I have a single earbud with the microphone to listen to my calls, and much less tangling of wires.

Having a single earbud is much more functional for me, as I do about 90% of my talk time using the earbud, and not having that extra wire seems much simpler for me.

Anyone else?

My cat does this to me (and my friends / family / anyone who enters the house with white dangly earphones) all the time- I never thought of it as a detangling device before tho!

I have a BT headset too (not the overpriced Apple one) but holy #$%^!! I had never opened the earbuds that came with my iphone. I assumed they were just your average ipod earphones, which I have about 4 pair of. Never knew there was a mic on there. :eek:

Yes, a mike AND a switch, great for switching songs. My screen works perfectly at all other times, but it seems like the music play/pause only works occasionally, and even then you have to wake the phone/move the slider/press pause to do a simple function that took one press on the iPod. Oh well, I like everything else it does, but it is NOT the best iPod ever IMHO.

The iPhone isn't even close to the best iPod, now that I've used it a while. Fast forwarding, etc., is way more cumbersome with the iPhone, and there are about a half-dozen other areas that make a "real" iPod a much better choice for music listening.

If I had it to do over again, I would have saved $100 and gotten the $299 4gb, and put the extra $100 toward an iPod.

Now that I've used the iPhone as an iPod for a while, I've cooled on the idea of buying an iPod Touch. With a little experience, I've discovered that the Classic interface works better for me, hard-drive lags and all...

thanks for the tip, I always find myself fumbling around with my earphones trying to untie them. with this way it will allow me to listen to music, and be able to hear what's going on around me.
