Today in Toronto it was 32 degrees celsius (90 degrees fahrenheit). I heard on the radio while I was out today that this was the hottest September day in 49 years. Anyone else experiences unseasonable warmth of this magnitude?

(not a global warming debate thread)

Which part of CA? I used to be a resident of Socal myself.

Cold and rainy here in Salt Lake. I quite like it really, as I've been waiting to not have to use the A/C anymore.

Not looking forwards to the "summer" in October and November...

Had the stove going for the first time in the year over the last two nights. V. chilly indeed. Days are at just the right temperature to work outside though. Still .. lots of wood to stack ......

its hot in chicago, 85/90 every day for a while now. but i think we're coming into a more reasonable spell of weather now, around 75 for the high the rest of the week.

It hit a record high of 90 yesterday and it might do it again today, it feels great. The longer Fall and Winter stays away the better.:)

Here in Portland its a seasonal 58-75 and overcast with occasional sun and occaisonal rain. Maybe less rain than usual, but I bet that'll change soon.

Honestly I like the cold. That and I want it to start snowing on the mountain. ski season here I come!

It felt really cool here in Vegas the other night as I left campus. It's probably not that cold, but when you get used to 115F, 65 feels damn cold.

Yep, unusually hot in the Catskills. 84ºF today. With boomerstorms trying to get organized. We get some wicked straightline winds sometimes out of autumn thunderstorms. I lost a 60-foot cherry tree from one of those gigs two years ago.

More normal temperature for us in mid-September would be mid 60s in the middle of the day, waking up in the morning to low 30s if it was a clear night. I have yet to light my woodstove again since end of April and that's unusual.

We can have a first hard frost as early as mid-August, but the last few years there hasn't been a widespread killing frost until well into October.

I'm in Utah and we have been getting unusual weather. It started out with a lot of rain, two whole days. Then, as if odds defied gravity (remember, we are right next to Las Vegas) we had snow, this was around September 18th! Last year it started just right after Halloween. And the year before that, we completely skipped spring, the snow didn't stop coming down until around May 20th. We have the wackiest weather sometimes, you just can't really predict when the seasons will change, and if/when we will have that season! Our temps average from 30 degrees to 105 degrees (F).

I work for a Weather forecasting company and the global warming thing can be proven and disproven.

On the one hand Sydney had it's hottest day October day on record last Wednesday (03OCT2007) but Sydney also had one of it's coolest average June on record. Brisbane has also had some very serve storm during the last week.

IMHO the global warming theory will just increase the weather extremes not increase the overall average temperature.

Say iBlue, are you related to iG**y (had to censor that 2nd username, as it seems mention of it in a post will get a thread closed, lol), and do you pay a royalty to 'edsignuk' for using that image?

It's "as cold as a witch's tit", and we demented skiers finish off that line with ", in a brass bra, on the shady side of an iceberg" :D. Funny, comedian Sarah Silverman was on Jimmy Kimmel show couple of nights ago, and she told Kimmel of her wearing blue jeans and purple/yellow lettered football jersey that Kimmel complained/teased her about, that she wore a strapless, bust exposing, dress on the David Letterman show "because Letterman likes tits", and they did not censor it, same has been happening for years on late night network TV. But Silverman blurted out to Kimmel "you are an arsehole" and that got just the "hole" part deleted/censored, lol

Coldest summer on record and how many years, and by that is it coolest by an average of 1 degree or 20; have they been keeping accurate records...100 yrs? that's a blink of an eye in earth's Billions of years history.

Tell me about it! Of course, it could be like last winter and hardly snow at all...

Same for So. Cal. last rainy season July 2006-June 2007 was a record drought year of only 2.9in of rain, IIRC. Worst snow season ever for the local mtn ski areas.

And after this year's summer, I'm loving every minute of it. :D

...Although, today I had to switch back to shorts. :(

Well I wore shorts in Seattle when I was visiting my sister a decade or so ago, in April when the day time highs where in the 40F's and everyone in Seattle thought I was nuts, didn't seem very cold to me, and I'm a So.Cal native (though I hate the warm weather). Loving the cooler nights of Fall now, downtown LA is a concrete island of warmth, on the westside closer to the ocean it's been in the lower 50s every night for the past few weeks with mostly clear skies.

This is not a global warming/climate change thread. Go to the Al Gore Nobel Prize threads.

Yes, let's hear it for the coming winter in the Northeast. It's why I moved back here. It has been unseasonably warm in this region. It's mid way to November and I can still walk around in a t-shirt and shorts.

Last Sunday they had to cut the Chicago Marathon short because of excessive heat, over 90 degrees. Hundreds of runners got sick, one out of town runner, a police officer, died, although the coroner said it was not heat related. (Or perhaps he wanted to protect the city from a lawsuit.) It is definitely getting warmer.

Since as a "newcomer" who hasn't posted a 1000 yet, and CAN'T post in the social issues forum, please allow me to say "Go Al." It is good that the world is recognizing this as a real crisis!

Well in Dublin, Ireland the weather has been uncharacteristically warm. Here's the widget showing the weather report for today;

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/2710/weatheruf6.png

and here's the chart for the average temps by month from the government weather agency;

http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/4246/temperaturegraphtx6.gif

Currently 5 degrees above the highest average temp. It may not sound like much, but when you can go out in a tshirt, when you normally go out in coats and jumpers, you have to think something funny is going on :confused:

p.s. I've well under 500 posts (300ish)

1000 was a typo. I believe it is 100. Not positive, but there is some initial number of posts required. The last time I went there it said I was not eligible to post in forum! With my big mouth, I shall have the required number in no time!

Wish I lived in Dublin!!!! Or any place in Ireland!!! Luckily, Chicago has a fantastic Celtic music scene where it is not hard to find live music!
