Computer turning off by itself..

hi, during operation, my G4 tower would all of a sudden turn itself off. I'm not sure what the problem is here. Maybe i have a bad power supply?...something wrong with the internal power supply? this problem actually just came back, as i fixed this before by plugging the computer into another electrical outlet. Any suggestion would be helpful, thanx

That's pretty scary! It could be a number of things. One you already mentioned: bad power supply. It could also be that your machine is overheating. Check to make sure all of your fans are working. Also check to make sure you don't have a timed shutdown (though, you'd probably figure this out if it happened at the same time everyday). You might try resetting the PMU to see if that helps: it's the small button on your motherboard, check the Apple website for the exact location and procedure for your machine. Good luck!
