Try downloading MPEG Streamclip (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html) (free) and Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/) ($19.99). Do you have iMovie '08? I hear that it can handle Sony video camera files (iMovie HD couldn't on it's own). Maybe you don't have to get a new camera! There are ways to make a Sony play nice with a Mac! Hope that helps!

do you ever plan on getting iLife 08? i would consider it. there is a list of cameras supported, but it really supports more. i have a sony dvd camera that isn't on the list, and it worked (i was so relieved)

im not sure yet. from the reviews i just don't know. especially since im a bigtime video editing kind of person and imovie 08 sounds like crap. plus im having problems with my camcorder anyways so i dont know.
