I hope I'm able to describe what I'm thinking. I see it all over the place, but can't find an example now that I'm looking for one.

You go to a site that has some thumbnails. You click a thumbnail, and it shows the full-sized image (usually in the middle of the page), and has a "close" button. Often a white circle with an X in the middle.

Does anyone have an example of such a page? I'm hiring a developer to build something similar, and I'm having a hard time describing what I'm after.

Thanks.

I think what you want is a lightbox

e.g.

There are alot of different lightboxes out there.

Personally I really like greybox

That's really nice too. I like the ability to launch a site into the lightbox. Thanks.
