Madden 2008... BEFORE the season ends?!

Yeah, it's kind of lame that they're this late with Mac Madden '08. Historically Football games haven't sold well on the Mac. Half the NFL season will be over before this is out and then there's that weird Apple Store-only deal. This is a recipe for disaster for Mac Madden '08.
I'll still probably buy it though. I'm curious about the Windows version though as the Mac version will essentially be an exact copy of it. I'm not really into the arcade stuff so is there still a way to play where you just call the plays and do the head coach and general manager stuff? And if that is the case can the mouse be used to control everything or is the keyboard needed? Once again, I'm not talking about the arcade stuff in Madden '08. Just the coaching and GM stuff.

I don't like the arcade stuff either. As a matter of fact, they sorta screwed up the kicking option again so if you did like the arcade stuff... you wouldn't after a few missed FGs, PATs and kickoffs.
I play in coach mode. I call the plays and that's it.
I play in XP (in Boot Camp) and it is BEAUTIFUL on my 17" MBP. Supports widescreen and is really sharp. It really looks real at times.
I use a mouse and a USB Logitech Rumble Pad. It would be hard for me to play Madden without the controller though you can set the game up to use a mouse and keyboard if you want.
I looked today and it said I could pre-order it but didn't give a date for release.
Pretty sad actually.
I know a lot of friends who buy it in preseason because they are tired of seeing baseball (and no other major sports) on TV.
What is the point of releasing the game this late in the season? Might as well relabel it Madden 2009 and be ahead of the game.

under estimated shipping is said 3-4 weeks for me. yeah you can pre-order it, but i'm not gonna do that.

I'm not sure I agree. About the time it will come out the PC version will be discounted to $9.97 and placed in the dump bin.
They are setting themselves up for failure. "No one bought MacMadden this year so we won't release it next year..." Yet it is their fault no one will buy it. Who wants a football simulation game when the REAL sport will be smack dab right in the playoff hunt?
You guys should check out Action PC Football (www.dksports.com.) You need windows for it, unfortunately, but I run it with Parallels ... great football strategy game. I'm trying to convince the developer to make a cider port of the game.

if it comes out in 3 weeks from now, it'll be close to half-way through the season. the game will not be $9.97 until February 08 or later.
now that is assuming it comes out in 3 weeks.

Right now the PC version costs 40 dollars, it will stay that way for a while and gradually drop.
By the time the NFL draft comes around, it should drop around 15-20 dollars (going by past experience).
It sucks that Apple was again the last ones out of the gate with their games. I ended up buying a 360 because of this delay.

i'm at least hoping that it comes out in 2-3 weeks from now. so then it'll be just after week 7 of the season.
of course, i already have it for the 360, so it's not like i'm crying over the delay
IMG reported Friday that both Madden '08 and Tiger Woods '08 are shipping this week for the Mac.
I think I recall the Apple Store's shipping dates for the first four EA titles being off (the titles actually arrived sooner than expected) so I wouldn't put too much stock in their estimates.
In any case I have Madden '08 pre-ordered from the Apple Store and I'lll believe it's been released when I see it in my own hands. 🙂

Just search for "Madden '08 Mac" on Amazon and you'll find it. I also cancelled my order with the Apple Store and ordered from Amazon. Amazon is cheaper (no tax and free shipping) and more reliable. However, it wasn't cheaper in this case because I selected next day shipping making the cost equal to Apple's price (with tax and 2nd day air). But at least I now know it will definitely be here by Monday. 🙂 Might have been as much as another week through the Apple Store.
Wish I had noticed this yesterday. I guess Madden isn't an Apple Store exclusive like the first four EA Mac titles were. Hike! 🙂
