Original revision 1 Mac mini - 1.25 Ghz G4, 80 GB HD, 512 MB RAM, pre-ordered the same day as the keynote she was announced. Died of bad logic board. She was only 2.5 years old, but because she did not have insurance (Applecare), she could not afford the expensive medical treatment to repair her logic board, and she passes away in the summer of 2007. :(

I had it diagnosed by a genius at the Apple store $400 to fix. Why, oh why, did I not get Applecare on a rev 1 Apple product - I know better. I won't make the same mistake with my iMac next month.

Anyway - what are these things good for with a bad logic board? It was fun to take it all apart to see how all the pieces fit together. I moved the RAM into my G4 PowerMac. The CD-RW, and HD are practically not worth the effort of selling them on ebay. The case may have some interesting functions - maybe turn it into a external HD enclosure.

Any other ideas?

If the 80GB isn't even worth selling for you, you can send it to me as a gift. :D

ebay?
Either buy a motherboard or sell the mac mini on it, its still worth a 'little' bit.

Or, you could not bother as a new mini is only 200 more (or so). Alternatively, send it to me ^_^

Simple.

Why pay for a coaster, when you already have a Mac mini?

$400? What are they smoking?

We bought a new Mac mini for 469 last month, so 400 to just fix a older one sounds awfully high, plus there are plenty of tech sites that sell Mac mini parts for very little $.

My wife's mini has sudden shutdown syndrome and it is getting worse.

DT&T will fix the main board for $225 - http://www.dttservice.com/macmini.html

Yeah, I'd part it out..... or list the entire thing on ebay, and be honest about the board being fried.

People will buy anything.
