Is SHIPPING a MacBook safe?

I've decided on not waiting for Leopard and purchasing a Macbook now. I just don't have a car to get to the Apple Store. Has anyone ordered online? Is it safe?

No, ordering online will turn you into a chicken.

What do you mean safe. It's pretty much like ordering anything else online, the likelihood of anything going wrong is small, probably just as "risky" as going to a store to buy one.

Loads of us have purchased from Apple online. Its perfectly safe. I followed my MacBook via e-mail and the Fedex website from the minute it left the factory in China until it arrived at my door. No problems.

They aren't made at the store...so they have to be shipped there :)

I can understand why you're worried, it is an expensive piece of equipment...but don't! I bought my PowerBook in the store but bought my mom's MacBook online and it came perfectly. The box was packed securely in another box. Plus if it arrived damaged (very small chance) it's not your fault and it should be covered.

Very safe and very efficient. Now stop waiting and go order your MacBook!!!

I didn't even get to track mine!

I ordered it at 1pm on Monday, got an e-mail that night at about 11, and it arrived at 11am on Tuesday...Can't complain really, but I've never tracked an order before.
