View Full Version : iPod Touch is not an iTouch!
Antimatter

I'm sorry, but it kind of gets annoying when I see someone call an iPod Touch an iTouch. It just doesn't make sense. Do you call the Nano the iNano? No! Do you call the Shuffle the iShuffle? No! Do you call the Classic the iClassic? No! It just sounds stupid and juvenile. So please, don't do it for me, do it for Apple, and call it an iPod Touch or just simply Touch. There is no I in Team!
Sorry for my rant, but I just wanted to get it out there.
Here's to hoping my iPod Touch comes in today:apple:.

Two Apple Store employee's were calling them "iTouch" when talking to me about them a few weeks ago.

There's a natural need to nickname the thing because 'iPod Touch' is too many damn syllables, and just calling it the 'Touch' is weird. iTouch is perfectly acceptable shorthand.

iTouch seems a perfect name for it.
No I don't call the iPod Nano an iNano, I just call it a Nano.
iTouch is fine.

iPod Classic / iPod Nano are just easier to say and roll off the tongue that iPod Touch. Like the other guy said, too many annoying syllables.
iTouch is much easier to say, but in my opinion sounds worse.
"iTouch... You touch what???"
How often do you "say" it? It works for the online realm and that's about the only place you'll see the term.

im sorry apple likes long name for its products, but in vast majority of the society, ppl really can't help themselves to use a shortcut.

One of my most juvenile friends demonstrates his jealousy by trying to make jokes about iTouch
But i agree with everything said here, iTouch sounds awkward and iPod touch has too many sylables
I think i shall call it 'the touch' in public and the sexy black 2D object the rest of the time

I agree 100%. Seeing the word "iTouch" is starting to become a pet peeve of mine. I'm glad someone finally adressed this.

Wow, such vitriol, anal annie. Get over it. People shorten all sorts of Apple product names and give them all sorts of nicknames as well.
You have an iPod touch, and I have an iTouch.
If only people focused half this energy on learning about Darfur or something actually important...

'The Touch' sounds like an STD.

indeed. Darfur....
'The Touch' sounds like an STD.
this is a reason ppl use STD rather than "se..... Trans..... disea..", I didn't complain STD sounds like "standard deviation" tho.

It's just a matter of getting used to it. I used to call it iPod touch to touch then finally "iTouch".

If we must be anal (No pun intended of course) STD is now STI (Infection)
 ;)
However, rather more on topic I don't much like iTouch. 'touch' is just great for me. :) Same as 'nano' and 'shuffle'

the word iTouch is starting to annoy me but i do understand that the name iPod Touch is a bit long and takes too much time when writting, but yet again it is annoying when people say iTouch.

If ur gonna have a rant about what people call the touch, you might as well use the correct capitalization. I hate it when people call it the iPod Nano or the iPod Classic or the iPod Shuffle or the iPod Touch... it drives me nuts when they put too much emphasis on the first letter, it's supposed to be touch, or shuffle, or nano, or classic.
EEEEEEEEEEE....
Only joking of course, I seem to always capitalize it myself.

iTouch seems a perfect name for it.
There are half a dozen products and services already named iTouch, though.
To the OP: it's not iPod Touch. It's iPod touch, since you're looking for precision.

Blackbook, whitebook.
They are just other names which are easier.. why the fuss? Lol. If you see iTouch just read it as iPod touch - problem solved. ;p

In what world does "iPod touch" have more syllables than "iPod classic" and "iPod nano"?

Good point! But if you want to call it the iTouch then why not? Everyone know what you mean anyway.

I think we've established that people can call it what they like; this discussion is going nowhere.
iTouch this button over here to close the thread... ;)
