Anyone read this one yet this morning? Sounds interesting, but man would I be pissed if they came out with an iPhone Extreme... Would like to hear some comments on this...

I did not know that there was anything left to get pissed at Apple about. Thought it had all been covered.

Some believe it's a poor "cut and paste" job where Airport (Extreme) was copied and renamed iPhone.
However, perhaps Apple will be releasing an iPhone with 802.11n support. :p

And Apple doesn't care one bit about pissing you off because they know you'll buy it anyway.

iPhoneBugList notes (http://www.iphonebuglist.com/blog/?p=19) that they spotted an unusual mistake in Apple's website source code.
One of the HTML product fields lists "iPhone Extreme" as the product name.
Obviously, there is no "iPhone Extreme" that has yet been announced, and so, of course, people are speculating what this could mean (if anything).

"Airport Extreme" edit: ahhhh sananda u beat me to it :)
Like AppleInsider said, I'm chalking this one up to user error in the site coding, not something that will come. I mean, come on, iPhone Extreme just sounds LAME.

Bring on the Extreme and Nano. I'm still happy with my "regular" iPhone. If the Extreme version is twice as powerful with twice the features for half the price, I'll buy it too, not complain that apple is constantly innovating.

Apparently a "cut-n-paste" error.
However, I would not be surprised to see a 16GB iPhone roll out in the new year (just to catch all the suckers who pony up for one in the run-up to Christmas - standard Apple marketing strategy)

I am gonna guess that this was just an error. I don't see why they would call something iPhone Extreme in the first place and second, I think it is still too early for another version of the iPhone. I do believe we will see a 16GB iPhone at MacWorld, but it will still be called iPhone, not anything new.

What does it say now? Also doesn't apple always try and hide the things that are true. If they just left it everyone WOULD think its just a coding error and move on with their lives.

the iphoto route is a bit tedious and i can't download pdf's from the webor idisk and read them offline later.
well, if ical and adressbook are fully editable and sync back to my mac than i'm closer to an iphone than i thought. but i think if you are away from your mac you can only see subscribed ical calenders via .mac and those are not editable. the calendars that you synce back home might be outdated. so it's not a fully web based calendar i guess. same for adressbook. is that correct?

Yes and no. You can only add JPEG files to iPhoto, which literally is a low-res photo of the document. When zooming the document, the fonts lose all sharpness...... not a great solution. (yet)

I think Apple did it on purpose to see if people would notice and start talking about it. I would. Of course, it could be just the baddestassed new form of viral marketing. Next thing you know the next next Batman movie's title will be announced in the source text of some web page.

let me a add a bit to this rumor...
Now I KNOW this has no real substance...BUT
In talking with a relative this past weekend who is an AT&T network engineer... He mentioned to me that Apple was going to release a new iPhone before the Christmas holiday. he didnt say anything more.. or less.
again. I know this is nothing solid...but just another rumor...
We'll see what really happens.

i have about 2000 pdf files on my hd. id like to load 200 onto my phone/pda and select what i need to read. mailing two gigabytes of data is kinda tedious.

That is a great friggn idea. We are dealing with the iPhone/rebate already. And Leopard is supposed to be released this month.
Tada! Apple anounces a new iPhone just before Christmas. Nothing like stirring up the pot.
Let the iPhone/Touch/Super Duper/Whatever bashing begin.
What? It does not include Quickbooks, Boot Camp, Final Cut Express.
Well what good will a new iPhone be then.

In my experience, you are correct. Changes to a shared cal will not immediately post. In that sense, there is no .Mac syncing (nor is there any .Mac coordination anywhere else that I can tell). The best you can do is sync with your Mac regularly and push those changes through.
.Mac support is near the top of my wishlist, after (Apple native) To Dos and a dictionary.

I heard the same thing from a business support person at AT&T. That the 5-year exclusive with Apple wasn't limited to the current iPhone, and that they would be coming out with other phones later(this was a couple months back).

Update: The "iPhone Extreme" reference was simply a sloppy copy-and-paste job on the part of an Apple webmaster who apparently used the company's existing AirPort Extreme feedback form in creating one for the iPhone.

hmmm.... iPhone Extreme. I picture an iPhone with a 42" widescreen plasma multi-touch display. Comes with one of these furniture dollies to carry it around. Or maybe it could be a "headless" iPhone, using a heads-up Kopin microdisplay built into a pair of stylish sunglasses with input via retina tracking. At least it's not an iPhone shuffle... press a button and it calls a random person from your contacts list.

Hi,
My post on Apr 18, 2008, 04:57 PM #121 might be interesting for you. Seeing you mentioned Kopin. I believe that Kopin is close to providing devices/means/hardware to allow our eyes to enter a new Apple device that will dramatically change the way we use communication devices like cell phones and allow devices with small screens to project their images and video out of the device screen and into a hologram which is directly posed for easy viewing and sized for comfort to the eyes vs old guys like me who cant read the font sized print in the shower on shampoo or conditioners or in supermarkets when shopping etc etc = I cant even read cell phone sized type when using my cell etc etc without glasses = Kopin is a company of genious fellows who baffle me and time will tell.
I am not a computer related or tech related guy who knows the vocabulary of this arena yet I do know we will see very soon some dramatic changes to how we view stuff. Eye wear like our military stuff will get amazing yet hologram projection out of small devices will change everything = it's coming soon. My prior post also noting Kopin is as follows
