It is spelled T-H-E as in "the"
i.e. "Has anyone seen the new G5?"

Not teh.

Not teh. I appreciate this thread. "Teh" really annoys me.

For some reason that is a mistake I'm always having to correct. Personally I'm glad to see someone else makes the same mistake.

Thank god for spell checkers

When will people learn that poop is spelled P-O-O-P...not P-O-O-P! Jeez, some people! :p

Seriously, though, I can relate, but at least I don't see people on here typing like people on AOL. It's like once they sign on, all the rules of spelling and grammar go right out the window. It gives me a headache to read people typing like "hOw R u DoIn" or in real life conversation hearing people say "LOL! That's funny...oh, brb!" Anyway, enough with my rant. I must say "teh" is new to me, I guess I just didn't register it at first when I read the thread. Here's hoping that people will learn to better proofread (which I admit I have been known to catch my share of typos, myself).

Typos. Okay. I get it now.

My personal favorite (read, annoying one) is "loose."

Ex.
"Apple is going to loose market share."

"I hope I don't loose my privileges as a MacRumors member."

"I enjoy participating in the local spelling bee. However, I loose every time."

I guess it's tricky because it's not a typo. <My apologies if it's commonly used like that in other places.>

And if you translate: AL MEMBRS OF DA FORUM SHUD READ THIS MESAEG
TH3Y!11!1!11 OMG LOL SHUD NOT MIS MAH WORDS OF WISDOM11!11 LOL
into the AOLer Translater, you get:
AL MEMBRS OF DA FORUM SHUD READ THIS MASAAG
TH3Y111!11!1 WTF LOL OMG LOL SHUD NOT MIS MAH WORDS OF WISDOM1111!!1! OMG WTF LOL

EDIT: As many times as I entered "You suck", I never got back j00 sUx0rs, or anything similar, just a lame "u suk"

Oh yes.. this thread is << an editor's dream!

Seriously, I think we write much more casually in this type of context, and that's fine. It's when I see (serious/professional) material published to the web, that has not been given the same copy edit that would be demanded for print, that I get irritated. Very unprofessional. (lame) It's still publishing, and the same rules DO apply.

Some of my not-so-common personal favorites:

Hung - Sh/be hanged. Hanged is correct (past-tense) for executions, not hung. Objects are hung, people are not. (well, some do claim to have 14" docks, but we all know that's average:p )

Another peeve is those same-spelling is correct uses: lead like pencils and heavy metal, is the same as lead like you lead because you knew the way, but not to be confused with you led us off course you idiot, that would be led.

End of vent.
