Ummm... That's a pretty obvious answer... 16GB is better. But you might not need that much space.
Better price per gigabyte, otherwise, they're the same.

I only have 4 gigs of music, a couple movies and some tv shows so I have no need for 16gigs. It all depends on what you have.

what is the size of your movie and music collection if they are under 8GB then the 8GB is the best otherwise if they are over 8GB then the 16GB is better.

Yeah, I would do the 16gb if you have about 5 gigs. It gives you room to add a movie or two along with a growing collection. But if you want to save the extra money, you could get the 8GB and just swap things out with different syncs.

I have 5.3G of music, too. But I prefer the 8G, for it's extremely sure that Apple will launch a 32G iPod Touch next year, and this device will surely have more juice(I believe the battery test of the iPod Classic and Nano, but a huge screen stuff like the iPod Touch will surely have far less life than 22 hours). So if you don't have much money, and only want to benefit for the "Cool look and use", flash memory, and great screen, choose the 8G like me

I got the 8gb and I only have about 2 or 3 gigs left. I could have used the extra 8gb. I would have gone for the 16gb but I just cant justify spending 400 dollars on an ipod 300 is allready too much.

I have just over 5Gb of music and if you include all my photos and movies I want to add then I figured that would put me over 8GB so I went for the 16GB so I won't have to switch over to the 32GB once Apple releases that within the next year.

The whole point about the Touch is that it's available in 16 gigs. Unless you're short of cash, 16 is a no brainer.
