Hi, I have the occasional need to update a website but have little experience with web design.
Is there a simpler and cheaper alternative to Adobe Contribute that will allow me to make minor changes?
Thanks

Thanks, I've looked at that but it doesn't appear to be able to edit existing pages, as Contribute does, unless I'm missing something.

Taco can edit almost anything.
Open the file with Taco and edit the code

But the website is hosted on a server - I don't have the file.
Contribute lets you edit sites in this way.

Never used Adobe Contribute, but if that program is using ftp or sftp (better). Then check Aptana (http://www.aptana.com/) this is a web development IDE, mostly code based no WYSIWYG.

Thanks, but I really need WYSIWYG.
Maybe it is going to have to be Contribute. If I'm going to spend that sort of money, would I be better going the whole hog and getting Dreamweaver? I assume it does the same thing and more?

I was just recommending this elsewhere. Coda (http://www.panic.com/coda/) might have what your looking for.

Coda's a lovely bit of software and does just what I need (and probably a lot more!) Thanks for the recommendation. :)
