I said new hardware, but don't know really what that means. If it is not rumors, than what about hardware? It's not reviews, as there is already a category for that. Could someone clarify this for me?

I voted for audio. Second to that I guess I would have to vote for Product Reviews. Reviewing and researching stuff online usually determines what gets purchased and what gets tossed aside.

I'm suprised there are that many votes for hardware. It interests me, but with my income, it's not like I'm necessarily buying the latest hardware. Wish I was. Voted for software. Definitely makes a more regular impact in my life since I make many more software purchases.

I assumed it meant basically being updated when new hardware comes out, not rumors of when something might come out. But kinda like when you wake up on some random tuesday and see on macumors that the newest headline says "new ibooks" and details about the specifics of the new releases and not reviews of it since it has just been released no one has it yet to review it.

New Hardware was supposed to signify 3rd party hardware like...
New Firewire drive from XYZ company.
Oh well... I guess we'll let the poll run out.... see what the results are

Definately new software, nothing says fun like a new beta :)

Thanks for clarifying arn, on that note, a New Apple Hardware category would be in order, and that's what i would have voted for.

i said harware as well, but after reading arn's intention, that isn't really what I meant.
I am always looking for what's coming next from Apple (hardware and software)
Apple is my life (and livelihood :) )
Anything that lets me know what is coming, or specifics of a just released product is what i am always after.

i voted other, so now i'll specify... :)
i'm mostly interested in OS X tips and tricks, as well as other interesting things to do with software. like when i found out about 'fsck', that was cool. the more stuff like that i can learn about the better! :D

I voted for graphic software... ;)

I voted for software since it makes the most impact to me. I wish I could afford a new computer, but since my iMac is less than a year old, I don't need one....yet.

I voted other, as there was no mention of video-oriented products.

I voted "Other" because I'm most interested in "how to's", beyond beginner topics. I've been using macs since 1988 and Mac OSX since 2001 but I can never get too much information on how to improve my ability to use my favorite platform.
If there was never any new hardware or software we'd still be able to use our computers to get done what we need to get done, and there'd probably still be dozens and dozens of ways for us to improve our efficiency in using the tired old boxes.:p

I voted for other because, I work in the media industry. We like to know all the software and hardware updates, media standards and so on. thats why I choose 'other'.

I voted for "other" because I'm interested in the new hardware, sofware, and opinons. It's integral to my Mac knowledge!

I voted software, but I would choose all but maybe 3 of the options up there. Is this a check if something should be changed? I like it how it is.

Here's a vote for new software that doesn't require buying new hardware to use it.
The hardware is cool, but my machine still works for what I use it for. It seems the only reason I have to upgrade my beige box is to use Panther. Is Panther really worth $700? (low-end G4 and Panther). I really want that fast user switching and expose, but...

i went with graphic arts thing because i figure that encompasses 3D and compositing and the hardware that is needed for it too. ;)

"In Depth Technical Details" since that could general cover both hardware and software topics, including certain announcements and reviews. Basically anything that's technically interesting is where I prefer focusing my attention, tho' I let myself be distracted frequently enough to participate in polls and forum topics like this. :)
Seriously, something I've enjoyed about participating in the Apple/Mac community for almost two years ("migrating" from Sun/Solaris, mostly) is it's still at a size where I can manage staying satisfyingly informed about a reasonable spectrum of technical topics. I enjoy that because I'm more comfortable as a generalist (with obvious limitations :)) than a myopic specialist. The M$/Windows mob often seems the overwhelmingly frustrating antithesis to that whenever I'm "forced" to make an appearance there.

I couldn't vote. It says "You have already voted!", which is not true. What's up with that???
If I can't vote, I'm going to hold my breath until I turn blue (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36486)!
