If a buy a modem for this machine, say a global village 33.6 or so, I will be able to get online with it, correct? for instant messaging and such.

already have netscape installed, and obviously already have an ISP.

Sure, you can, but any external modem with an RS-232-C connection and a Mac serial modem cable will do.

I would think that you would be able to find GV or Zoom modems still out there.
