Since Macworld left Boston in 1997 for New York, the dream has been to bring it back. On Friday Macworld Expo announced that it will inaugurate the opening of the new Boston Convention Center on July 12, 2004. IDG will get the use of the new Convention Center for free! This news make me very happy, now I know where I will be that week! :)

I personally think this is so stupid. Complain all you want about Apple being stubborn or moronic for not wanting to move with IDG to Boston. You know what? Tough. It doesn't really matter what we think, or IDG thinks, whether it is right or wrong. It's up to Apple. After all, what is a MacWorld without Apple?

This has also turned into a New York vs. Boston debate. I don't know which city is better but I look at it like this:

If it stays in New York:
-Apple attends
-New Yorkers can conveniently go to a good Expo
-Bostonians can take the time to travel down if it is a good expo.

If it moves to Boston:
-Apple doesn't attend.
-Bostonians can go attend a horrible expo
-No people travel to attend a terrible MacWorld.

So whether you like Boston better or New York better, it doesn't matter. It is obvious to me that it should stay in New York. Why? Because Apple says so.

Yes, Apple says so. And a good MacWorld is beholden to Apple attending.

I will look forward to that. It would be cool to actually meet you eyelikeart. Maybe some others will also attend, that would be so neat.

I'm optimistic that Apple will change it's mind, I don't think they can really afford to alienate us on the East Coast. The Apple community should come first and not an ego!

You could have gone this year...

Freg3000 -- I totally agree.

The only thing at this years Expo... was Apple! and if you take
[(Apple + Crap) - Apple] You might end up with Crap!

:(

Unless Really Big names go to the expo, I will *not* be going, it will be a very sad year.

Look, If you want to come down for the NY show, great. If I want to go up their *knowing* Apple, the 'Mac' In MacWorld will not be going...

No.

It would be nice if there were an expo in the Southeast, say Charlotte or Atlanta.

It also would make sense to have an expo in Chicago...As it is, people in the Midwest are stuck between traveling a long way to the East Coast or traveling a long way to the West Coast.

In the Southeast, people have the same sort of problem.

Boston is the hub for a lot of history and computer creativity!
