Hi,
just curious to know the solutions you have found to place the apple remote when not in use.
BTW I've heard that on the previous iMacs it was possible to attach it on the left magnetically. Does this apply also to the Al iMacs?
Thanks
Raf

I just keep it on lying on the stand.
As for your magnet question, a friend told me his "old" white iMac had a magnet in the side where his remote could attatch, but it appears the Aluminum has no such thing.

The magnet is on the right side of the monitor on my white 24" iMac.

Of the four Apple remotes currently in my flat, I know the location of one...and its a clean flat! It lays beside my bed, in easy reach for getting off my Macbook's awesome stuff :)

Yes, the white iMacs have a magnet on the lower right side of the display, and I've heard the Aluminum iMacs have the same magnet, but the Aluminum case destroys the magnetic field. I have seen people place their remote on the black strip around the display because there are magnets holding the glass in place. :)

I have two. One sits on the side of my iMac, and the other sits right next to my bed.

i've got an earth magnet stuck to my metal bedframe, so that i can stick my remote to it, and start playing music as i wake up.
i have another on my magnetic notice board next to my computer (Al iMac) so that i can stick it there when i'm at my desk.

Ours are where they belong, in the cabinet with all the other useless remotes. My real remote is right here next to my chair where it belongs. Handles the Mac just fine.

and I've heard the Aluminum iMacs have the same magnet, but the Aluminum case destroys the magnetic field.
Then you heard wrong. The magnetic permeability of aluminum is the same as air (or plastic for that matter). There is no magnet in the Aluminum iMac save for the ones that hold in the glass*, some of which may be strong enough to hold the remote.
* Technically, the speakers also have magnets in them.

I keep my MacBooks remote in the computers case, its very easy to loose it so better keep it in a safe place.

Agreed, our Phillips Pronto TSU-7500 (http://www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm?id=1206) has been programmed with the :apple: functions.

Need link. NEED. LAN party tomorrow night and everyone hates me when I bring in my mac. I would love to have that as my background when I boot into windows(I would really love to not boot into windows, but.....).
I keep my remote on the side of my iMac. Sometimes in my sweatshirt pocket when i'm up doing stuff. Or at least I used to when I was in a house. Now I am in a dorm and the furthest I can get from my remote is about 12 feet. So I usually just leave it on the computer. I have my MX1000 set up to skip forward songs in any application by hitting the forward button on the side. And with the volume keys on the keyboard I rarely find myself reaching for the remote.:apple:

Sometimes I keep my remote to the left near my MacBook, but most of the time it is in the bookcase to the right of the MacBook.
Dont use it often.

I bought one of these. It costs less then $1 at any arts and crafts store (Not the penny, the magnet):
krazy glue that bad boy to any wall, thing on your desk and voila...you have an instant place for your Apple remote

Oh. I remember a bunch of disappointed MacRumors ppl were frantically trying to find it when it came out and that rumor surfaced. lol. I guess MacRumors is the best title for these forums! :p

That's the most funny thing I've heard in a while. You've never used FrontRow from a couch or your bed? You don't know what you're missing.
I put mine on the stand.

lol, it's funny that you say that. I've actually seen attempts to sell pennies at costs higher than 1 cent. excluding collector edition pennies of course.

next to my bed...
the apple remote in combination with the software remote buddy is a true killer duo...I do almost everything with the remote when I am lying in bed.
