Hey,

I set my home screen to read "This Ipod is unusable without a password. Please return to....for $50 reward". And set the passkey screen to appear every 15 minutes.

I was just wondering how protective the password really is. Can it be bypassed by reseting/restoring the ipod?

do you really think you will lose it that easily?...i have had no need to restore, but i assume that it would erase the passkey.....also, i tried the passkey after 1 minute and it never asked for it....i would change it to immediately because they can just slide to open and then look at all your stuff for 15 minutes......

Off the top of my head - I thought the passkey would be defeated if you just plugged it into a computer with iTunes, but I think it's not (it has to be an authorized-to-you version of iTunes).

It's better than nothing, if only to protect your Wifi router settings & password.

15 min. is probably fine, b/c if you lose it, it'll lock fast - but not so fast that you can't use it.
