iphone headphone mod help

So, I'm trying to do this:

I've got the exact same earbuds. the jvc marshmellows. I bought them because I thought for sure if he got them to work, I should be able too, right? haha.

How the hell do you crack them open without scratching them up or breaking them all together? Any help from someone who's done this?

Just as an update, I think I'm going to give up on these JVC's. I found an old pair of Sony's that I lost one of the earpieces for, and I grafted those on with no problems. So i think i'm going to return these JVC's and get me Some white sony's I saw at Target the other night. Then it'll all match and look nice.

I gave up on the JVC's and got my a set of white Sony MDR-EX51LP's. Those came apart easier for me, and look a lot better. I also like the ear piece better than the jvc marshmallow.
