To turn off auto update in Itunes for the time being, wouldnt want to get a new update from and brick your device after all the last 24hrs hard work 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

I doubt it will brick. I used the TIFF exploit, saw iTunes didn't know what to do with the iPod and did a full "recovery mode" restore with full functionality returned.

Bricking was with the iPhones with unlocked SIMs. Jailbroken phones were not bricked, but instead had the 3rd party apps disabled.

This isn't a problem with the iPod Touch.

true, but for now, i would be gutted having spent the evening playing and 'upgrading' my touch to a phoneless iphone 😀 and then a damn auto update loosing all that added functionality!

Sorry for the bump, but how do you exactly turn off automatic updating?

I can only find an "automatically search for updates" option and I turned it off (obviously). Is that enough to prevent my touch to update or is there another option I should turn off?

I'm new to iTunes, so I just wanted to make sure.

AND change your filesystem password...
