You know, the search function isn't far away... The forum is littered with posts and guides for the jailbreak procedure - it's not that difficult to find. Either on the first or second page lol.

Well, that Finder icon refers to "MobileFinder" app, and it IS some sort of Finder!
One can actually browse the filesystem of the IPT, and there are other functions (just installed and launched it). Of course, no drag&drop (so far...).

Don't waste your time. :p

What I mean by using such a high size is that I'm getting into great detail, like with shadowing and stuff. Understand that when you make an image smaller, especially 60 by 60, you can't see some of those details, but it's good to know that they are there and you look carefully you can see them, even if they don't look too good they are there. I'm changing my icon sizes to 60 by 60 makeing the glass frame just a bit smaller than that. It doesn't cover the font so it's good. And I'm changing my pre image size to 800 by 800, I'll at least be able to make them on my macbook's screen on the go.

make a png file 25x20 save it as FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png (use white colored text) and Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png (use black colored text) and sftp them to System\Library\CoreServices\SpringBoard.app (probably a good idea to rename the originals for backup).

hey guys,

i'm really sorry if this has been answered before, but i have gone through PAGES of other threads looking for the answer, and I'm gettinbg tired :S.

when I try to access my iPod touch through cyberduck, I keep getting the emssage "Unexpected end of SFTP stream". I tried using cyberduck and Cute FTP. I'm using SFTP, with user root, password alpine.

all I want to do is put summerboard on manually.

Any ideas?

ps. from what i understand, summerboard and customize do different things. can i run them both at the same time?

Looking good. Just make sure you've got a full complement of icons! Half the really stylized themes out there I end up not using because there are a few icons it just doesn't have, and they stand out like a sore thumb.

How I made it:

-Downloaded mac icons from iconfactory.com
-Converted files from ... to .png using Iconverter 0.9
-Shrank all images in Photoshop down to 65 x 65
-Saved shrunk files as .png with correct application name associated (Wade.png --> Calculator.png)

You know the rest... but anyone looking to use some icon sets made for mac, look into Iconverter, it works great!!

PS. Still looking for a Calendar icon to fit this theme, cant find anything yet.

By the way, does anyone have a nice non-cartoon weather icon? I despise making realistic clouds, I get way too picky in Photoshop making them and I always close the program. Here's a few more icons I made that I liked if anyone wants:

I don't have summer board on my iPod. I did this all manually. :D Btw, the calculator is correct. It's like it is on the iPhone after the software update that had iTunes.

I am new here and new to a jailbreaked touch. Finally got the summerboard app issue fixed with the toolbar locking at the top of the screen. I have searched and am so inundated with results. I was hoping someone could give me more precise answer to 3 questions. No flames please
1. What app to use to rearrange icons (hear about customize but not working with 1.1.1 yet)
2. How are you creating/modifying icons are you FTP'ing them from the theme folder to the Desktop and editing them and then FTP'ing back to the same location?
3. Everyone seems to have TTR what is that? How to format an image for the background?

Is there a quick guide to making your own themes. I watched the videos on youtube by touchmaster and seems that with the new version of summerboard/springboard the file location is different than his guide.
This is what I am thinking.
1. Find themes folder and select a theme with icons
2. Copy all files in the folder and rename it to my custom theme name
3. Format image for the backdrop/wallpaper
4. Icons? No clue how to make or what to use to make them (thinking of randomly selecting ones I like for the different apps to use
5. Upload the theme with new name to the same folder as others with 0755 rights
Am I way off?

Ok here is my first attempt at a Summerboard. I just "borrowed" most of the icons from the "Time Machine" theme and added my own wallpaper and dock icons

Now if I could only learn how to use photoshop and place the dock images in the same silver circular boarder I would be golden

I modified Phiberglass a lot, a good chunk of these are original icons made in Photoshop (or converted from image or icns files)

The first four apps are what I mostly use, everything else is in alphabetical order. (up to the OpenURL and Light apps, which are pinned to the end)

I don't have access to SFTP when I am at home. I need Squid/Term-vt100 for fixing some problems, like if something doesn't work and I need to change permissions. Squid doesn't show your programs per say, it shows the Terminal like in SFTP.

You can make corresponding black boxes behind the application names on the background itself.

Question, what are you all using to make and edit your icons. I have tried imagicon to resize images and have tried to dabble in photoshop but am clueless to how to use it. Way to many options for beginners.

2. Colloquy is an IRC Client (internet relay chat)
3. Lockbox is a password safe (for storing user names and passwords)
4. Stumbler is a WiFi Sniffing program that searches for WiFi networks and tells you if they are secure or not
5. Navizon is a Virtual GPS that triangulates based on either WiFi or Cell towers.
6. iLight turns your Touch into a "flashlight"

Seriously, you might wanna get that temper problem sorted out. And yeah, your posts didn't help much, they had no purpose, like this one. Just relax, if you see something that annoys you that much, maybe you should take a long breath and calm down, and seek help if something as little as a guy asking questions on a forum pisses you off.

And uh, applications and the springboard are pretty similar... there's been talk of how to have more applications on your springboard, etc, here. All threads go off topic, now quit picking on this guy.

Are you talking about this one? It is part of the Jonas Rask theme

You can SSH into the following location
/var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes/
Find the Theme you want to modify and send the appropriate icon into that folder replacing the previous one.

Correct me if I'm wrong somebody, I don't have my iPod in front of me at the moment, but I believe it is /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/themes/[Your folder here]. Place icons in another folder within that folder entitled "Icons". The background goes in that same folder, under the name...

the docks for the iphone and the docks for the ipod arent interchangeable. I had to open up the dock and move the layer all the way to the top of hte png... at that point it showed up...

not really. pngs dont have layers. what exactly did you do. and I didnt use the iphone dock, made one from scratch. so, it should work. 320x91px

the docks for the iphone and the docks for the ipod arent interchangeable. I had to open up the dock and move the layer all the way to the top of hte png... at that point it showed up...

the png is 320 by 91... but the actual dock image, ie, the part that isnt transparent and could be called a layer, is at the bottom of the canvas. Move it to the top and you will see your dock. I've had to do this on several docks I have dloaded. Good luck with that.

Also, I was just pointing out that alot of your icons dont really match the category... which is fine, I just find it interesting that a foot represents weather. Your theme is much better than some on this thread so dont take that as a slam.

lol, no worries, I dont get defensive that easily. still, when I think of weather, I think of beaches and sand, and going barefoot. and the cig for services has a similarly weird neuronal connection in my brain ;)

speaking of weird brains....I still dont get it. I assumed, springboard uses the full size 320x480 png as background and "layers" the dock 320x91 over it, aligned at the bottom. how would I go about moving the dock png around....you mean on the touch itself?
