here's a crappy pic of my jailbreak. it was an effort but it was fun! I wish I could've figured out ebel's screenshot method but it's 2 am here and I best be getting some sleep... I had no experience doing any of this (but i do fix computers for a living ;)) . This forum has been invaluable!
I will always be able to pick mine out in a lineup because of the scratched glass in the upper right corner....that and the general filth.

Go into installer.app, go to the uninstall tab, and uninstall summerboard. Same thing happened to me.

It's possible, but who says you have to update? Unless they add something ground-breaking that isn't already available via the third-party apps, what's the benefit to updating?

you people are killing me! i want to hack it so badly, but I also have a personal pet peave of putting all my music that I hand picked off of my computer onto my ipod. i dont want to ahve to do that again. though I realize that the new 1.1.2 update probably wont break the ipod, Im sure that most will have to restore their ipods after that. I will wait until that happens to make my decision, also... the not upgrading argument holds no water with me since there are still tons of noticeable bugs in the ipt. Unless the third party hackers are planning on fixing those, I think Ill just wait until a stable version of the ipt kernel is out...

however, looking at all these awesome springboard pictures is making me want to run home and hack away!!!! all that being said, please keep them coming because I love living through your pictures :-D

Apparently you didn’t read the post where I said I found it and apologize for that, or perhaps you are just bent on being a jackass. I was looking for the spotlight icon rather than the finder icon... thus, my mistake.

these springboards are awesome... i love it. It's amazing to see how fast this all has happened, though I realize alot of it is being built off of the work done for hte iphone, its cool to see it work out like that.

Did anyone notice that apple lauched there online mac app repository. I looked at it for about 5 minutes and got bored and went back to looking at all these native apps.

Are there any new apps for the ipod touch or are all these ports from the iphone? Anyone know? Thanks! :)

The launcher icon just gives a list of the apps i have and then launches them if i want it to. I dont know how that got on there...It just appeared when i installed installer.app. Im going to look into how to get rid of it.

Also, to answer your earlier question, trip1pogo creates two pages once you have more icons than can fit on the first, that can be installed from installer.app :)

Could someone please point me to the directory where the default icons for the touch are stored. Also, why is it that the panther theme has custom icons, yet there is no 'icons' folder in the summerboard install. I'm looking to 'mix and match' icons, but I need to know where they all are first :)

You need to use the version from the Summerboard website. In the SummerBoard preferences, turn on "Skip Last Row".

Certain themes seem to not set a background and use your wallpaper that you set to your Slide to Unlock screen. Neurox Leopard is one theme that doesn't include a wallpaper. I'd try removing the wallpaper from the theme you are using and see if it uses your Slide to Unlock wallpaper.

it should be a case of navigating to the theme you're set to using ssh / sftp, then simply swapping the wallpaper file (using the same name of course)

ok... So I've worked it out.

If you want to set your own wallpaper, select it in settings / general / wallpaper. Then turn off theme wallpaper in summerboard.

Now I'm happy

The notes/stickies app is the same thing, it's the notes app off the iPhone with a custom icon. I've got it too:

Guys... If you've got a Mac, you can make your own by using OS X's icons.

You need to open a terminal, then cd /Applications/Application.app/Contents/Resources

then ls

you will see all the contents and there should be a file icon(or whatever).icns

copy to desktop, then change file extension to .png. Open in Gimp and strip out smaller layers, then resize to 59 x 59. And Save

Voila! Nice icon for your touch

Man, they all look great! I'm so stupid, I don't even know where to start or what to contemplate! But great advice about restoring iPod before loading new firmware and then reinstalling all those apps and your music. That's why I always have a playlist for each of my iPods - so whenever one needs to be restored, at least I know those "personally hand selected" songs can be replaced quickly - instead of trolling through my 100GB+ music library.

can anyone offer help on getting summerboard 1.1.1 installed. I did exactly everything that was included in the install file that was included. However, when I started summerboard, there were no options available in the menus and then the prog. eventually crashed. I assumed it was a chmod issue so I changed some of the permissions, any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone working on completing the neon one with matching icons? If that thing is uniform it will be the best theme period. My photoshop skills are up there but not quite that good and I also havent got the time.

all you need to do is search for rearranging icons on the Internet and i think its on the iphone dev site. Theres a page with the code in order and uncomplicatedness on it. Copy and paste the code into notepad and then uou can edit it.

I would upload mine but im in my bed on my ipod at ghe moment so it would be pretty hard.
