Am I the only one tired of seeing this song on the iTunes top ten list?

Never mind the catchy tune, but the lyrics are disgusting. For those unaware of what it means, consider yourself blessed.

What happened to good music?

Yes! What an awful song. It's awfully catchy, but I cannot get past it's vulgarity. Definitely disappointed to see it on the list. :(

Not only the song, what about all the peeps dancing the souja boi these days, I hear it all the time b/c everyone has it as their ringtone and so many people just jump in and start dancing to it, quite funny to see 12 people dance to a ringtone. Fun dance though, in a goofy way.

I'm kind of curious as to what crank that means. Yes, I'm serious.

I didn't see anything even approaching vulgar in the previews of the song or video on iTunes.

Well, okay, maybe the overwhelming genericalness of it could be offensive, but certainly not in a vulgar way.

Yeah, it's just more crappy music that talks about sex. It's so horrible. I mean, this is what is being sold to kids these days.

Okay, so they say "ho" a total of 7 times (hoe is a tool), and "bitch" 6 times, two of them referring to a rather benign sexual act. There's been far far worse in the history of popular music, and there will be worse in the future. This really isn't worth getting up in arms about (unless, as I stated before, you object to the general artistic level of it, which is pretty damn low).

I really don't like the song but if the song is popular then what do you want them to do about it....deny it a space on the TOP TEN.

No matter the song if it earned the spot then it should be there.

Okay, I deleted my previous post because I was losing my temper and didn't want to be an ass, but this is ridiculous. When there's a guy dancing on stage doing a motorcycle cranking motion and the lyrics are "crank that," how does it make any sense to assume that it has to have a dirty meaning? This is a song ten year olds listen to.

Also when the sound "ho" is used at the end of a line for meter, it's not always an attack on women. The phrase "hip hop hurray, ho, hey, ho" is also not a misogynistic call to arms, in case you were wondering.

If you don't like hip-hop music, don't listen to it. If you don't like this song, don't listen to it. But attacking hip-hop on such an absurdist foundation is just thinly-veiled racism.

I agree with you about listening/not listening. If you don't like a song, it's probably best not to buy it and sit around complaining about how bad it is. I do think it's a bit facile to call this critique racism. It might be racially motivated, and if it is that's no good. But, I also think that it's not racist to believe that referring to women as "hoe" (intending "whore") and "bitch" is misogynistic (another kind of prejudice). I also think it's not prejudiced to worry that this kind of rhetoric (in a song, or anywhere) objectifies women and may perpetuate violence toward women.

Talking about superman'ing is one example of objectifying women.

Again, this is outside of any critique of the art (or lack of art) of the song, or of my preference (or distaste) for the song. And, there may be cultural or intellectual reasons that I'm not aware of to include this kind of language in a song.

Good song. (Let me explain). While the lyrics are a pretty bad, I dont base my song appreciation on the lyrics, I listen to music for the music, not the words.

Someone had told me what "Superman-ing" meant (supersoak...just open your imagination), and that's what pushed me to make the thread.
I just thought how sad it was that something like this could be up on iTunes Top Ten.
If only more people actually knew what it meant.

This is ridiculous.

Never mind the quality of the song (beat is trash, sounds like it was programmed on a Casio made for an 8 year old). It's garbage party hip hop for people who want to grind on each other all night and deafen themselves. I have my own qualms about this type of music but I wouldn't seek to ban it or otherwise censor it.

But to complain about the lyrical content of the song is ridiculous. There have been many songs before and there will be many songs after where sex is (surprise, surprise) the primary topic. And not making love type sex but casual, naughty, dirty, possibly animal type sex which would be more accurately named by a word that rhymes with sucking. Actually complaining isn't the problem. Complaining is fine. What lets you complain lets him write the song. But I am curious is it just because the topic is sex? Or is it the vulgarity hidden in slang? Maybe it is disrespectful to women. Which is already a big topic in the misogynistic male dominated world of hip hop? All I can say is the songs will change when they stop being bought. Of course another solution is to get rid of all vulgar music and replace it with "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies.
