unlocked iPhone (1.02) and Leopard?

People are wondering what could possibly compel owners of unlocked 1.02 firmware iPhones to ever upgrade their firmware to 1.x.x given the fiasco of 1.1.1. What about having to upgrade to allow use of the iPhone with Leopard? That might just do it for lots of Mac users (myself included).

Anybody out there beta testing Leopard using an unlocked iPhone? Any problems?

This is also exactly what I want to know. Except I want to know for 1.1.1 also. Is there a way that Apple could prevent us from syncing iPhones with Leopard for a non-updated firmware?

I bet they will. Look what they just did with the last update, they didn't have to invalidate all 3rd party apps, but they did. They are going to close it as much as possible because it's in their best financial interests to do so.

But they dont want potential Leopard buyers to not because of the iphone. It doesnt seem logical to me. But thats just my opinion.

I guess it all depends on which they feel is going to bring in more money OR what is more important to people: Having the newest operating system or having an unlocked iPhone.

I've been running an unlocked iPhone (f-1.0.2) on Leopard for about a month and a half, without any issues whatsoever.

However, that may change by the time the final version of Leopard is released... Who knows, except Apple?

If they actually do this, then for me it will be quite simple. I will gladly pack up my iMac, Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, Airport Extreme, iPhone, AND iPods and SELL it all. I will also steer ALL of my friends, colleagues, relatives, etc. away from Apple. In my circle, I am VERY influential when it comes to tech. People often ask me for buying advice and over the years I have lost track of how many people I have switched to Apple. I can easily start reversing this process.

Don't get me wrong.. I really do love OSX, but I can not and will not tolerate being treated like the enemy by Apple. I happen to live in a place where the iPhone does not even have an estimated release date. Am I really that bad of a guy / customer just for wanting to get my hands on the latest Apple gadget?

Well...it looks like Leopard is GM with an Oct 26th release date. I will be holding off for now until I know that my iPhone works with it and/or the 1.1.1. hack works consistently (the new anySIM 1.1.1 still appears to be in flux). I don't NEED Leopard right now and will wait for the early adopting set to "beta test" it for me.... :)

I share your sentiment. Let's hope it doesn't get to that because the alternatives are not that great either.
