Anyone tried the iPod app from iPhone?

Has anyone tried to use the iPod app from an iPhone? I'd love to consolidate my Music and Video icons into a single icon, but editing the plist doesn't seem to do that for me.

It probably also requires some clever extra tinkering. Maybe check to see how the iPhone firmware looks like as far as placement for a lot of the stuff in the Video and Music apps in the Touch, and replicate it in the Touch root.

You can join the Music and Video apps together:

1. FTP into /Applications/MobileMusicPlayer
2. Open up Info.plist in Property List Editor
3. Change UIRoleInfo>0>Platforms>0 from M68 to N45.
4. Change UIRoleInfo>1>Platforms>0 from N45 to M68.
5. Add a com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer item in /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/N45AP.plist

Basically gives the same result, good luck :D

Well, here's an interesting problem.

I did the mod (above) and tried to play back a TV show I bought off iTunes. It didn't work, so I tried an iTunes music (not iTunes Plus) purchase. It wouldn't play, either.

Looks like this hack is too good to be true, for now. :( Anyone have a copy of the iPhone's app to compare this to? The difference has to be pretty trivial.

SFTP is secure file transfer and is part of the SSH service, which your iPod will have installed after jailbreak. FTP isn't secure (i.e. the data isn't sent in an encrypted form) and your iPod won't have an FTP server on

on your other thread it seems you have got the DRM issue fixed. Does this mean that the hack that user PowerFullMac posted works? the thing with merging music and video into one iPod icon and DRM still working?
Please confirm that it doesnt break DRM, i might merge it right now

In order to edit plist files, you must have the Xcode application installed. You can install it from your tiger CD, or from the ADC member site (free DL, you just have the be a member of the dev community)

yes, move com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer into the buttonBar array, that is nested in the displayOrder Dictionary... if you need more help i can post a screen shot.

Yeah, I merged the Music and Videos together just for the iPhone look and feel. Now you can't tell the difference between the two.... software wise atleast. :p

if anybody on windows is still having trouble with this here are some instructions i typed up. capitalization is key throughout this process.

http://newbix.net/files/renameto%20info.plist (http://newbix.net/files/renameto&#37;20info.plist) <-- right click and save as Info.txt

download the Info.txt file, open it up with notepad and save it as Info.plist

put the Info.plist file in /Applications/MobileMusicPlayer.app

then get your N45AP.plist file from /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app

open it up, look for

<dict>
<key>displayIdentifier</key>
<string>com.apple.mobileipod-AudioPlayer</string>
</dict>

and change com.apple.mobileipod-Audioplayer to com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer

then delete this whole entry.

<dict>
<key>displayIdentifier</key>
<string>com.apple.mobileipod-VideoPlayer</string>
</dict>

and if your using a summerboard theme, go to the icons folder and change the icon Music.png to iPod.png so your custom icon will show up.

I did this hack and everything worked perfectly until I rearranged an icon in Customize. Now the iPod icon stays at the very end of all the other icons (not in the dock).

Oh, I was able to get it back in the dock by editting the N45AP.plist file. But now I won't be able to rearrange in Customize.

Any suggestions?

I merged music and videos into "iPod" and it worked great (via windows, and winSCP) but now when i go into customize and I tap "Icon Display Order" and then "Manual Reorder" it just closes customize and goes back to the iPod's main screen. Any suggestions?

In your first picture (see Quote) you have posted a screenshot of your iPod Touch. How do I take screenshots? I have wanted to do it for ages to prove it to my friends. I am also TERRIFIED to the extreme on Jailbreaking my iPod, I don't know how to put it in recovery if something went wrong. And to make it all worse TouchDev.net is down to me. Could someone please Help?
