I got this unit for participating in a Beta Test, and I looked over the rules, I'm fairly certain I'm allowed to sell it :)

Simply put, this is a directional antenna that improves your WiFi signal, often able to keep you surfing when Airport cannot get a strong enough signal. Is it hype? I don't think so, in my own testing I was pleasantly surprised, and I'm pretty certain it makes a difference. It wasn't able to do what I wanted it to--get me WiFi in my dorm room. The buildings here are built purposefully to keep you from getting wifi in your rooms, it seems. Cellphone signals don't really penetrate in here either, I have to go outside to call. WiFire couldn't help me here. But in applications where your walls aren't solid cement/cinderblock or whatnot, it seems to work fine, and helped me connect faster almost every time (except when extremely close to the Wifi signal origin, then Airport worked almost better.

The unit can be a bit of a pain to use, but they added foam to the clamp so that it should hold better, and it's not extremely bulky, it fits well in my bag. It takes less than a minute to set it up if you want to use it.

I would keep it, because I rather liked the prototype I got to play around with for a month, but I don't need it that badly, mostly my computer is used in places with wired internet, and on the rare occasion I'm using it on campus out of my room, there is actually very good WiFi coverage. And as a "starving college student" with many other passions in life besides surfing the internet, I'd rather sell it. Basically, I'm not selling it becuase I'm not happy with it, I'm selling it because I don't absolutely need it and don't see myself needing it much within the next year.

The unit was shipped to my house, rather than to me at college, so I had my gracious mother take some pictures, she took it out of the box, but this unit has never been used. I can ship it myself, as I'll be back home this weekend, but if someone wants it sooner, I can get my mother to ship it.

$50 shipped anywhere in the 48 states.

Oh, it's the WiFire unit made by hField Technologies.
