Mail Crash Help....

I am stumped. Last night my mail program started crashing when I was trying to delete mail. Also in my tool bar there is a red circle on mail but no number of how much mail I have not read. In addition, in my inbox mail does not let me know how much mail is unread in any of my mailboxes or folders.

Any ideas of what is wrong? Also I need to fix this fast as I have all of my business email on this system. How do I save my accounts and messages?

Any and all help will be appreciated. 🙁
 
Start by making a copy of the Mail folder in your Home folder's Library. This contains your offline emails and so a copy of this folder is a good backup. Make sure you quit Mail before making the copy/duplicate though. Now, drag a file named com.apple.mail.plist from the Preferences folder to the Desktop and reopen Mail. You'll need to put a few of your settings back in but see if that helps. If it doesn't, you can put the file back where you found it and regain your settings. Only move this file when Mail is not running. 🙂
