View Full Version : iOrder - Order applications easily (make N45AP.plist)

RazerM

I found the application identifiers from another icon order thread by bindle, and also the output needed. I made this (hopefully) easy to use program.

http://iorderapp.googlepages.com/screenshot1.png

As the screenshot shows, you order applications by their name, which is stored in Apps.ini (post any missing ones and I'll add them). It then creates the N45AP.plist file. The file can be retrieved and saved to the iPod using SSH.

Updates
v1.0.1.1

Button to open an existing N45AP.plist file
Any apps in right column when iOrder is closed will still be there when iOrder is run again.
Apps.ini updated

v1.0.2.0

Updated apps.ini
Fixed flicker when opening a NP45AP.plist file

v1.1.0.0

Apps.ini auto updates from iOrder website
Installer v3 identifier added
Added opening and saving to iPod using SSH
Icon preview for all apps

v1.2.0.2

Icons download automatically from iOrder website when apps.ini is updated
List height made larger

v1.3.0.0

Added ability to hide applications
Corrected small typo in instructions
Optimized opening and saving routine

The official site is here (http://iorderapp.googlepages.com)

This was created by me, and tested by others on ipodtouchfans.com forums

http://iorderapp.googlepages.com/iOrderscreenshot.png

Very easy to use GUI. Once saved the file only needs to be transferred to the iPod.

Awesome, good job... now all we need is a Mac program. I had no problem editing the file manually, it just took a while....

Wow, thanks. This'll make it a fair bit quicker, I imagine. How does it keep up to date with which programs there are?

1.0.2.0 is a GUI version

What server does installer get packages from? Ideally it would retrieve app identifiers from there, just now it is updated manually.

Huh?.... Oooooooooooooh, you mean ON the Touch itself, as a mobile application. Bit of a chicken/egg situation though.

I guess you CAN do it on the IPT itself with a text-edit application such as TextEdit :) ... but I'd be cautious at first

Before I attempt a touch application itself (I don't use C much) I would like iOrder to get the file off of the iPod itself. As I don't have an iPod touch yet this will be hard to test.

I plan on using putty to do this, is there anyone who I speak to on MSN (GMT timezone) to test for me?

What happened to your applications? Were they ordered at all or... (explain)

As far as I know there was no 1.0.2 version for iPod touch, so I'll assume you're talking about iOrder version.

The latest is 1.0.2.0 so you're up to date.

Look for the app in installer, and the identifier will be there. Once you have them could you post them in this thread so i can add them? Thanks.

Sometimes the identifier is shortened to fit in the space. Did you put it in Apps.ini as MobileCast=<identifier> then restart iOrder?

If you get the right identifier then please post it in this thread so I can add it.

Make sure that when you save the N45AP.plist file, that you put that exact one on the iPod. iOrder definetely works on other's iPods so it should work on yours

Hey can you add com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer to iorder? Its the identifier for the iPod program off the iPhone to consolidate video and music. When do you think you will release an update to iorder with updated identifiers?

There is a app for the Mac called iFuntastic that does this and more, hasent been updated in a while though :( if they just do a quick update they could easily make it work with the iPod Touch

I know, but it can be easy to mess up though, and dragging the icons around the home screen image on iFuntastic is much easier and more fun :D Heres a pic. (http://www.iphonealley.com/images/storyimages/july07/ifuntastic3.png)

I can't believe Apple didn't at least automatically order bookmarks by name.

RazerM
Nov 4, 2007, 11:34 AM
Bookmarks in Safari?

They can be changed order by clicking the bookmark icon, then the edit button at the bottom left then at the right of each bookmark is an icon made up of three horizontal lines, just drag that part with your finger to order them.

If you have never changed your icon order before, you can create a new iOrder and save. From then on you can open from your iPod.

The Widgets application on my iPod Touch is just called Widget and therefore I am unable to change where this icon is located. Is anyone else having this issue.
