Where have the Dual 1.42 GHz Power Macs gone?? (g4)

i think apple discontinued them after the g5 was introduced. they still sell the 1.25 though.

Okay, is there a noticable decrease in speed between the two. Should I order a Dual 1.42 off of a MacWorld ad? This is going to be a MAJOR purchace, which is why i'm getting the more expandable G4. Also, G5s are... bleh-ish.

Also, this purchace won't be made any time in the near future. Apple, you heard me. KEEP THEM G4's COMING!

In reality the MDD Macs had 1 open high speed ATA-100 plug.

The 2nd optical drive is on a ATA-33 chain. REALLY SLOW

Which leaves the ATA-66 chain with two open spaces. NOT AS SLOW

Nothing really speedy, you'll need PCI ATA cards to really make decent use of the empty drive bays.

The G5 could probably do just as well tossing stuff on the FW800 chain, and the open SATA port is faster than anything on the G4.

And if you don't make a purchase of the MDD 1.4 GHz machine quick, they may be gone.

Apple not only killed the 1.42 -- they killed all the Rev. B PowerMacs.

So AE, FW800, etc. are no longer offered with the new G4 PowerMacs.

Pc's are uglier and people buy them. Xp is even uglier. I like the G5 case. Have you seen it in person? They're beutiful and fast. Really

yes, I have seen them in person. They shock me every time I touch them. But aside from that it looks like I had better start liking how they look, and realllly fast too.

Aside from aside from that.... Anyone know a good word processor for it? since it only comes with text edit?

Also, are there any disadvantages to using my existing 19" VGA CRT with it?

I've heard that some word app (http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/wordx/wordx.aspx?pid=wordx) from up here in the northwest is pretty good... ;)

OR a much cheaper office type program (http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ooo-osx_downloads.html) that has received some good reviews too.
