I have an external drive that I travel with. Until cross-platform Truecrypt gets an OS X version, it looks I might have to create an 80 gig encrypted sparse disk image to protect all the data on it.
Is this unsafe? (as in will the whole disk image be accessible if 1 sector of the drive goes bad, like big .ZIP files can go bad)
Is it unwieldy? (as in it will take a long time to mount because it's such a large file)
Also, in terms of backup, do I just copy the .DMG... or should I mount it, copy the files over to another drive/ sparse disk image.
Thanks for your help...
