I'm going to buy Apple Touch next month and I'm going to install google maps on it.

My question is, can I store the maps I need for offline use? For example whole london city's map into the touch's flash drive? Or do I have to download all the maps each time I open the app?

I noticed today that It will cache a small amount of map for viewing offline.
No where near the scale you are talking about.
I would say it is only about a 1/2 in all directions.

Hope that helps.

Other than that, I haven't seen or heard of saving maps, besides doing the book mark trick.

Aha that's a LOT of bookmarks if you were to take a roadtrip ;p

you could take a screenshot using dock and then save to your pictures

not sure how well this would suit your needs though

Someone should find a way to load the maps from a GPS into the touch and iphone. those dont download anything, they keep it all stored in memory.
