I'd like to be able to download Streets of Rage 2 without having to pay the additional 7.99/month Gold membership fee, which I formerly had. My question is, can I get access to the marketplace without it? It keeps saying that the only XBL option I have is Gold... is this just the way it is?

You should have access to the market place.....I think silver allows you to check it out BUT I think you might need to have Gold membership to buy things.....correct me if I'm wrong.

There's XBox Live Silver; it gives you access to the marketplace, but no online play in games.

You can use the free silver account to do everything except play online.

So use the free silver to download the game and/or buy the full version. But you can't play multiplayer online with silver; for that you'd need gold.
