Yaaaay! It's here! 8am NZ time and it's just arrived at my workplace via TNT courier! :) That hologram box really is quite attractive!

Only another 8 hours of work until I can get it home and install it... :(

Strangely enough, it was sent Global Express from Apple in Sydney, Australia. Obviously we're not worth having our own distribution centre!

One other thing I noticed was the following sticker applied to the outer parcel :

"TNT Drivers : As a one-off, and only for deliveries to private addresses if the consignee is not home, Apple authorises this to be left in a secure location and without POD signature."

They really want people to have that OS, eh?!

Now I'm worried I'm not going to get mine by Friday. The Purolator site now says "U.S.A. GROUND LINEHAUL" and when I called they said 3-5 business days! :(

Same deal here with the LINEHAUL.

Tomorrow will determine if an apple CSR will have to deal with a complaint, or MR will have an additional rant/rave/wtf?!? post about 10.5

I just called Apple; apparently a lot of people have been calling in to talk about Purolator's rather huge delay. I'd be making plans to visit a Best Buy or Apple store if you want it tomorrow because it's not probably not even in the country yet.

I am in Montreal and the Purolator website now shows "In Transit in US" and that it was effectively shipped on the 24th. Calling Purolator the guy cannot give me more info but he admitted that it could be in Canada and be delivered tomorrow because the status could be updated just after midnight. I told Apple that if not received tomorrow I would go buy it at the brick and mortar store tomorrow and would refuse delivery, they said it was ok and put a note for an expected return.

Why the hell do companies like Apple stake their reputation in Purolator? It's worse than the postal service for on-time delivery. I just don't get it.

The thing is, I would have gladly paid an additional fee for next day FedEx service, but instead they promised next day service, and used a courier company that has almost no reputation for providing such.

Doing a search on Google for Purolator and Apple or Purolator and Dell reveals complaint upon complaint about late delivery (sometimes more than a week) with Purolator. I just don't understand why a company like Apple gives them the time of day, since it only hurts Apple's reputation as well.

The tracking number isn't working yet on the UPS website, but on the email I got from Apple, it says "Delivers by Oct. 30."

(Fortunately, I was able to reset my admin password, so if it doesn't arrive tomorrow, I'm not as boned as I originally though).

So of the 250Gb HDD you have, how much free space did you have? I have slightly less than 50% free on my 250Gb drive and was wondering if you have to have more than 50% free to do an Archive & Install?

Well... mine arrived this evening as well... Everyhing thing went fairly smooth for the install. I really like stacks for downloads. immediately there was an update for something called remote desktop. I installed that immediately even though I don't think I own that program?

Also, disk utility is behaving a little bit erratic? I tried reparing permissions after the initial install and all kinds of things started spinning for about 5 minutes, including all my fans on my macbook. It also doens't really "count the time down" like Tiger. Kept saying it couldn't reapair permissions on remote desktop. Wonder what that could be? Could that update have been a mistake?

Mine was shipped via UPS. The tracking info isn't even active yet. All it says is that it's being shipped via 'ground'

I placed the order on the 24th, and I chose 'standard' shipping, since it was free and said 'Delivers by 10/26.'

I'm not in a huge hurry to get it, but it would be nice. Especially since I was led to believe that I'd get it today.

(which I still might, once UPS updated their tracking info.)

Should I place a phone call to Apple and try to badger them a bit or something?

US zip code 10002 (nyc) - family pack. Originally scheduled with an estimate of by 10:30AM then a Delivery exception at 10:24 and rescheduled for 6:00 PM. Delivered 12:32.

I asked the driver if he had many of these boxes. He said they had thousands. I asked if that was for the lower east side and he said just for this zip code - half his truck was full of them, he'd be delivering them for a week (probably an exaggeration). He thought they were iPods. I said no, they were the new operating system - blank stare. Software, programs, I said. For the iPod he asked? No, for the Mac. That seemed to make sense to him. I told him he'd make a lot of people happy today. He smiled and headed on to the next block.

Yes, necessarily. To qualify, you had to make the purchase on or after October 1st.

The automated system asks for the date of purchase and the serial number. If you enter September 9th for your date of purchase, the system rejects you.

What would happen if you entered a date after Oct 1st and your serial number?

You would be committing fraud.

Would it work though is what I'm asking? I'd assume that if you registered your serial number before Oct 1 and then put in a different date of purchase later with that serial number that it wouldn't work?

It doesn't matter. It's against the law and against forum rules to suggest doing so.

Gotcha. Well I won't ask anymore then because I don't want to be banned from the forums... I need macbook rumors :)

Looks like institutional purchases have been moved back, at least my media set for my volume purchase. The licensing documents are on the way though, just the media sets are delayed. From this mornings email:

Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following item(s)
by the date that you were originally quoted:

MB004Z/A, MAC OS X 10.5 SVR UNLCLIENTSINGLELIC-INT
will now ship on or before
Nov 05, 2007

MB027ZM/A, MAC OS X 10.5 MEDIA SET-ZML
will now ship on or before
Nov 05, 2007

Please note that product availability can change rapidly, and it is
possible that your order may ship much sooner than we anticipate.

It was set to ship by Oct 26. It OK though, I kind of wanted to test it for a few weeks before deploying it over the entire lab, and my Powerbook.

Up-To-Date

Shipped on: Oct 26, 2007 via US POSTAL SERVICE

MAC OS X 10.5 UTD FULFILLMENT-INT
Delivers by: Oct 30, 2007

I'm getting the same message.

But Apple said my MBP would be in last Thursday, and it came on the Monday. So I'm hopeful that Leopard will come tomorrow, a day early.

Where are people having their leopard shipped from (purchased from Apple)? I was surprised that mine is coming from Ontario. There also seems to be such a range of shipping methods (FedEx, UPS, TNT, USPS).

Just shipped from Amazon, woot! Should be here by Monday or so (not really complaining, got it for $109 total, no tax + no shipping fee :D )

Does it say anywhere in the order status or receipt what the part number is of your Amazon ordered copy?

Dang. Oh well, thank you for noticing my post and looking.

Does anybody know if part numbers typically change depending on the location of the purchase? I am trying to figure this out to help answer my question in another thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=376318).

I'm sorry but I really have to question your posting about selling Leopard outside of it's box. You state that the box is too large and expensive to ship? Leopard's box is literally the same size and shape of 2 CD cases and it's hardly heavy enough to require much higher costs to ship. Can't you sell it unopened? I'm asking this because people on Ebay are selling opened box Leopard DVD's and it's been found out that the seller copied them and then sold the new DVD's as open box factory discs which violates the EULA.

Not trying to rain on your parade but you may have more confident buyers if the box was still sealed.

Whoa! Thanks, I'll edit the post and sell it unopened. Thanks for the heads up!

yea my up to date still hasn't come in. it says it shipped on the 25th and said it would deliver by the 29th. on the 29th the status changed to delivering by the 28th. then today it changed back to shipping on the 29th. but being that it is in fact nov 1st and that it supposedly shipped on the 25th i'm wondering where it is. but maybe it's the fact that i'm in oahu and it only shipped by usps? you be the judge. i just hope it comes in soon:D
