Apple released (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imacmxmupdate10.html) the iMac MXM Update 1.0 today which improves video compatibility with Boot Camp on certain 24" iMac models.

Some iMac (Late 2006 24-inch) computers may display a black screen when booting from the Windows XP installer CD, instead of the standard blue installation screen. The computer will respond to the correct setup key presses and continue the installation even though the built-in display has no video.

Looks like a firmware for the video card?

Now that is interesting.

They admit to MXM as well. Not that we didn't know...

This looks like a 7600GT issue with bootcamp 2.0, does it not?

This update addresses an issue with a few of the orginal 24" iMacs that could not use the internal display in Boot Camp. See this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=240531) thread.

So it only took Apple a year to fix that one then...

So it only took Apple a year to fix that one then... :rolleyes:I guess they didn't think it was necessary to fix until Boot Camp was final.

Since Boot Camp was beta they didn't have to support it. I had a big hassle trying to get Apple do to anything about my first 24" iMac which would not work with Boot Camp. They kept telling me that Boot Camp was an unsupported feature.

Now that Leopard is being released with official Boot Camp, they have to make sure that all of the Intel Macs work with it.

Great, but still not a fix for the black screens and garbled video displayed before XP's "welcome" splash.

It's only been 14 months or so.
