Apple will be officially launching Mac OS X Leopard at retail stores worldwide at 6 p.m. local time. To entice early customers, Apple will be giving out free Leopard T-Shirts.

The T-shirt reads "Add a new Mac to your Mac. Introducing Mac OS X Leopard" on the front, and has an Apple logo on the back. If you are planning on attending a launch event, you can coordinate with other MacRumors users in our Leopard Event Meetups forum (http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=114). We encourage users to attach photos of their event in their respective local thread.

While there were a few early arrivals, the majority of Mac OS X pre-orders will be arriving throughout the day on Friday, October 26th (video of Leopard arrival in Japan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc9GgR-rmO8)). Our Mac OS X forum (http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=69) will be the best place post first impressions and get questions answered to potential issues.

We will try to highlight some of the more interesting screenshots and features of Leopard as the weekend goes on. A few interesting screenshots posted (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=374271) to the forums (http://forums.macrumors.com/):

• Preview Resize tool (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2007/10/25/previewresize.png)
• Multi-Page PDF icon (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2007/10/25/livepdf.png) - Pogue: "You can tell just by looking at a PDF file’s icon whether it’s longer than one page. The icon for a one-page PDF has a curled upper-right corner. But on a multi-page PDF, only the first page’s corner curls down. And in the gap it reveals, you can see a tiny bit of the *actual* page 2 showing."
• Searchable Menus (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2007/10/25/searchable.png), Searchable Menus 2 (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2007/10/25/search2.png) - find a menu item you are looking for
• Multiple files selected in Quick Look (http://images.macrumors.com/article/2007/10/25/quicklook.png)

AppleInsider has a bunch of screenshots too.

One VERY welcome new feature they reveal: in Mail, if you have rules that auto-file incoming messages into folders, they can STILL (optionally) be counted in the red badge on the dock icon. At last!

And I don't feel bad about missing out on the shirts now :)

That's GOTTA be the employee shirt or something... that shirt is cheap and lame.

I figured it would be black, with the X logo from the front of the box.

So anyone can get a T-shirt? Or is it with the purchase of Leopard? I think I'm goin to be goin since I didn't order it online and I don't have to work. Should be interesting.

That's incredible if they don't, I'd be pissed. Luckily for me I pre-ordered with a military discount.

As for the shirt = awful.

Omg, that searchable menus stuff are awesome!

And indeed truly innovative as always and expected from Apple. So sweet to be able to search within your bookmarks aswell.

Now if only I could somehow export my delicious bookmarks (I should reorganize them thought but they are well over a thousand ..)

Yeah, well this is the slogan deal they used on their site - not sure I buy it completely, cause although Leopard is new, Im not sure it "adds a New mac to my Mac." Doesn't seem like a big enough change from Tiger to get away with that.

Does anyone understand it - ?Nah, it's weird, it's more like you are replacing the soul of it to begin with.

Maybe they should have said:
Remove/Delete your mac, and put it back again.
With timemachine in Leopard.

Thought that's very lame aswell.

Just type Leopard vertically on a tilted shiny bar at one side of the T-shirt to upset people instead! ;D

(I'll have to make a screenshot of that myself and print it out for a shirt ;D)

Kind of a dumb shirt. Who is actually going to wear that outside of AppleFairyland? I sure wouldn't. Would have been nice if they just gave out a plain black t-shirt or something with maybe the space background. As an Apple enthusiast, I'm always in AppleFairyLand, so I'll proudly wear it around town. But I dislike wearing those T-shirts you get at music concerts, which show the list of cities on a group's tour. They seem dated so quickly! If it's 18 months until the next major Mac OS X release, this shirt will be good for a while.

Thanks for responding Thomas, however I don't think that's it.
Here is what I did.
1) Installed Leopard (ONLY LEOPARD)
2) Ran auto update (Just to see if there was already something new) and updated Remote Desktop Client to Version 3.2.1
3) (everything is running fine) Installed iLife '08
4) Ran auto update again and get the error.
5) I ran iPhoto and did and update from there, but of course, it takes you to the standard Software Update screen and I get the error.

I don't get it why they don't just have the software go on sale at 10. I understood with the iPhone because it was in short supply but I don't think Apple has to worry about running out of software. I have the day off and it would have been so easy just to drive down (100 miles) to the Apple Store and get it. Then I could install it and set up the parental controls before the kids got back from school.

I ordered online so I hope I get it tomorrow but I'll miss out on lusting after some new gear and getting a T-shirt for the wife to sleep in. At least I'll save on gas.

Happened exactly the same way to me. Unless you plan on doing a format+install it won't fix it, I tried ;)

If anyone knows a fix let me (us) know.

i did a clean install of leopard, installed iLife '08... i had noticed that iChat Theater wasn't working with iPhoto so i updated iPhoto from iPhoto... but i remember that software update WAS working earlier for me because i used it to see all the other updates i should do (but didn't). now i'm getting the same error you're getting... so i think it's on apple's side...

EDIT: oh of course... the error message states that the file can't be found on the apple server... so it's defiantly on apple's side...

Well, I know it looks like it is the server, but because most people are not complaining, I thought there could be a possibility that it is my side. Anyway, I still think it is on the Apple server side. Maybe they are really busy! :P

Somebody has discovered a nice little easter egg (http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~perekdr/leopard_windows_easter_egg.jpg) in Leopard. Apparently this is the default icon when you have PC's networked. :D

This has been known for ages/ It's even in an apple video of 10.5.

Well, Leopard is fast and, finally, you don't have to wait ages for Dashboard to load.

Word files now have a new look - sheet of paper with 'Doc' which looks similar to Pages files (these say 'Pages' of course) and are a bit dull, as are the new folder icons.

Unread RSS feeds in Safari are no longer coloured orange but are shaded blue with a blue dot - more sophisticated.

It's going to take a while to get used the new Dock - it's not as clear as before which apps are running.

I clipped a website and put it into Dashboard - fantastic, it just works, and you can alter the appearance of the new Widget after you have made it. Sadly, the Dictionary Widget doesn't let you access Wikipedia - you have to open the Dictionary app for that, which is an oversight.

Oh, Apple says that Alex, the new male voice, is English - it's not, it's very much American.

This is really very good so far.

If you look at your order on the Apple Store, view your order and then choose "Track this shipment" it says who's shipping it on the left hand side of the screen under "Assigned carrier". If you make a note of the Carrier Tracking Number you can go to http://cgi.tnt.co.uk/trackntrace/trackntrace.asp and type the number in the box to see exactly where your parcel is. Make sure you choose "Consignment Number" if it's not already selected. (Assuming it's TNT which in the UK it almost certainly is for Leopard.)

If you specifically want to back up your keychains then copy the contents of the folder ~/Library/Keychains/ to somewhere safe (where, of course ~ is your user folder). If you've done a backup or better still a clone of your drive then it's likely to have stored this for you anyway.

BTW a good clone tool is SuperDuper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper) which is free for a complete backup.

Well, there were twenty people here all day - we didn't miss the delivery or anything. Sure enough, a call to FedEx revealed that Apple called Fedex and told them it was OK to deliver the package later in the day. They're checking now to see if the driver is in the vicinity - if he is, they'll have him drop it off early anyway. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Just called TNT and they said that Apple have told them not to worry about delivering everything on time today. They are delivering some tomorrow, regardless of the predicted shipping date.

I was given this status:
26 Oct 2007 15:34 London Heathrow Depot Company Closed On Delivery Attempt
26 Oct 2007 08:42 London Heathrow Depot Out For Delivery
25 Oct 2007 21:57 Nuneaton Shipped From Originating Depot

Even though my company was never closed! Apparently this status really means that your delivery wont turn up today because they are overloaded with orders.

This kinda makes a problem for people that are getting deliveries to their company addresses since not many post rooms work weekends - this would mean that I would have to reschedule a delivery for some time next week instead!

Just got off the phone with FedEx. Leopard was scheduled for delivery by 10:30am, but just noticed they changed that to "Delay beyond our control". I just don't like to miss an opportunity to criticize the hard work of others. ;)

That's becoming a sig.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. But I don't understand the tag line. Add a new mac to my mac? Maybe

"Add a new bag of tricks to your bag of tricks" would have been much more powerful.

Does anyone understand it - ?

The full title of OS X is 'Mac OS X' so you are adding the new 'MAC OS X' to your Mac, thus you are adding a new MAC to your MAC!

That shirt's freakin' gnarley dude!

(gnarley - the original Hawaii meaning, not the SoCal surfer usage) :D

on the first of our 2 MBP C2D's. Took over an hour, due to the DVD checking the whole process starts with. I guess I can skip that for number 2. Now Time Machine is backing up to the external volume which I prepared for that. Exciting...
Note that the Software Update glitch has been resolved by Apple as reported by MacFixit.
So far so good.:)

Wow, they've been really nice at FedEx, though I keep bothering them. A quote:
"Apple gave us 150,000 shipments to deliver" We were talking about how FedEx had them in big "bundles", so I kind of felt the customer service rep was referring to the number of bundles. It was ambiguous though. I guess i should've asked how many are in a bundle to get an idea of the total shipment size!

The tracking page said "Delivers by 7pm", but the rep could tell that driver was scheduled to finish his route sooner, so she predicted 5pm, before I leave work. Woo hoo :)

EDIT: And it's here!!!!
