Since there is a wireless itunes store.... couldn't a wireless limewire app happen.. or would this be to dangerous by downloading programs on your phone that could harm it?
I think that has become one of my top want to have apps for the iPhone now. How sweet would it be to hear a song on the radio you like and be able to download it on your phone immediately for FREE.
I would think using it on wifi would be the only reasonable way for download speeds though.

OMG, are you serious? You want an app, in Apple's domain... Wow. This is one of the craziest ideas ive ever heard.
I'm not against limewire but ive been using the iTMS since junior year in h.s. Ive spent well into the hundreds of dollars to buy legal music, videos, movies and some ringtones. I just can't believe there's no patientence ( sorry, im drinking in a bar watching the world series) to wait for your p2p at home. :/ wow.

Well you could have just paid the one time fee of limewire pro and since you paid for it, technically, your not downloading illegally:D

iPhone and iPod Touch has wireless G, which should be plenty for P2P apps. A P2P music/video downloading app would probably be a very good application.
Frostwire is open-source, and works on BSD, Unix, etc. The only thing is it uses Java language.

You all are aware that Limewire Pro is still illegal right?

I don't think the program is illegal, I think downloading any copy protected stuff is. Such as music, movies, tv shows, etc. There is stuff that is ok to share, but I don't think most people use P2P programs to get those.

Yeah, a Limewire app for iPhone would be quite nice. I wonder if it could ever be pulled off...

on safari you can right click and save linked file as... dont have an iphone so im not sure if this would work, but you can always download the files at home and then sync to the iphone.
NOT ENTIRELY SURE ABOUT THE LEGALITY OF THIS

So no, you can't save them ;).

Limewire the app is not illegal, it's the way you use it that determines if it is illegal or not, if you use it for downloading things from your friend's computer that is perfectly legal (unless it is copyrighted). If you decide to download Music Videos etc, that is when it becomes illegal, in doing this you are conflicting with International copyright laws. Oh and it doesn't matter whether it is Limewire pro Limewire Basic Limewire Beta, all the same deal, as is GNUTELLA Lite and ALL p2p software isn't illegal until u use it to download things with Copyright laws.

Hey erandall38,
If your iPhone is jailbroken then just use Cydia to install dTunes. It allows you to search for music (using seeqpod.com) and videos (using a different site I can't remember at the moment) and save them to your phone. You can even play them back from within dTunes. It's really handy to have, but ya gotta jailbrake to get it.

I think its safe to say that this will never happen. An app like that would take $$$ from Itunes/Apple, and in times like these, thats just crazy talk.

dTunes just partnerned with itorrentrelay. Torrents on the iphone! Saveable too. Only catch is about $10/month. Just depends on how much you need torrents... I tried to download some legal mp3s from it off etree, worked well.

actually it is illegal because you paid limewire, not the artist or the recording company or any of the ppl that would get money if you bought it from itunes

To clarify: neither Limewire nor Limewire Pro themselves are illegal software; it is illegal to download copyrighted materials using them. Limewire can be used legally to share public domain software and media to which the sharer owns the copyright.

I have a app on my Nexus called iMusic which lets you download music for free. I wish there was something like that for the iPhone (obviously a Jailbreak app).

i found this site that can help with any limera1n download and install issues hope i helps as much as it helped me, for instance when you download the limera1n app the firstime after jailobreaking, you will notice a white app logo with no limera1n logo, then it will work but when you install cydia you have the same white logo for cydia app leaving it unable to open, by installing cydia over the old install without uninstalling the first install will solve the issue, read the link below for help.
