hello, im seriously considering buying a mac as my new computer instead of a pc. but i have one concern and thats:
can you create dvds from xvid and dvix, etc with a mac?

would simply installing a copy of 3ivx do it?

lets say i have a .avi file with a xvid encoding can i create a dvd-r of my own from that?

im not bothered if you cant be bothered to explain how. [even though id appreciate it], just is it possible?

please help, thanks
fraz

Yes, its not too hard. There are several freeware applications you can use to do this, including pipeline, and forty-two.

Pipeline is a little more complicated (but more powerful) while forty-two has a simple and intuitive interface that will have you ready to go in no time. I beleive it even will create the image file for you to burn with an application like toast titanium.

I use DiVA (diva.3ivx.com) to convert from DVD format to 3ivx. It works well and it's easy to get going. It doesn't do the sound, but that's easily accomplished with QuickTime Pro.

On an unrelated note, I once knew a guy who called himself Fraz, and he liked copying DVDs too :) You should've seen his PC, watercooling and everything!
