Hi,
Living where I do it seems that the Sheffield Meadowhall store is the nearest Apple Store. It takes forever to drive to Sheffield from here.
It would be great if Apple were to open an Apple Store in somewhere like Elden Square or the Metro Centre.
Who agrees with me on this?

Me.
It's stupid that there isn't one in the Metro Centre.

I really agree with you there, it's the perfect place!
If there've got a Sony Store there why not have an Apple Store?

Gawd knows. Geordies maybe? Nah, I kid... We do need one, nothing in between Manchester and Glasgow. Thats quite a large area.

Not really much of a help for the North East of England, but I thought I'd point out the five new UK stores (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=4397718&postcount=587) (Milton Keynes, Brighton, Reading, Exeter, and Cambridge) that Apple is recruiting staff for as I write. The good news is the UK retail growth looks to continue at an impressive rate.

I want one. Newcastle would be ideal.

An impressive rate indeed. Its hopefully just a matter of time.

Even though they keep building new stores, Sheffield still remains the closest for me.

With 3 Apple Stores to share between Manchester and Sheffield I think it's a disgrace that there are no apple stores covering the gap up to Glasgow as one poster has already said.
I do think that the MetroCentre would be a great place to locate an Apple Store but the best site (for me personally) has to be Grey Street in Newcastle. I don't say this because it's the closest to me (I actually live far off in Northumberland), I say it because the architecture in Grey street is simply gorgeous and would be perfect for an Apple Store similar to the one in Glasgow. It's an expensive area, but I would have thought that is right up Apple's street.
Pull your finger out Apple UK!!!
Here's a picture of Grey Street (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/33/Grey_Street_Newcastle_upon_Tyne_lightened.jpg/541px-Grey_Street_Newcastle_upon_Tyne_lightened.jpg&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Grey_Street_Newcastle_upon_Tyne_lightened.jpg&h=599&w=541&sz=62&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=fNs7C-mxJqOJwM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=122&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgrey%2Bstreet%2Bnewcastle%2Bupon%2Btyne%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-gb%26sa%3DN)

if you go to the Apple jobs section you can search by location.... Tyne and Wear is an option.... and you can express an interest in applying t=for the future opening of the Apple Eldon Square store. :D:apple:

I think that there is a bit of a gap for one in the Leeds, Harrogate and York area too. Then most of the country will be within a couple of hours of one.

They just need more up north in general. Anywhere above Manchester they need more stores. Especially in the NorthWest where the nearest store is Manchester, until you reach the North east :l

I'm in Lancashire but still hate having to travel the hour and a bit to either of the Manchester stores!!
I do think there should be one in Newcastle for the folks in the NE. You never know, with all the money in the bank that Apple have they may look to open one in that region soon!

A store on Edinburgh's Princes Street has been rumoured for a long time and the city certainly suits the company better than Newcastle.
