Data Dectors Europe Question... Will dd/mm/yyyy work?

Well in all the vids I've seen its been the American(and possibly other countries, I don't know) way; mm/dd/yyyy. But what I want to kow is, if I use it in ireland will dd/m/yyyy dates work or will they be misinterpreted? Thanks for answering(if you answer!)😀

I just tested it and it worked fine for dates that can't be the other way around e.g 25/09 but where it could work the other way around e.g. 10/05 it gets it wrong.

Edit: I Just sent feedback to apple regarding this.

What? Of course I have my date format set to UK in International Pref Pane. The data detector still gets it wrong... that's the problem.
 
Customise

You have to Customize each date, the short, med, long, and full. Then they show up correctly.

I can assure you it does not work. Here's a snap of my International settings, an email with 05/10/2007 and the incorrect calendar date of 10th May that it takes me to when I click show this date.

I have the exact same problem, I've set all the types in International Settings. Looks like a bug.

I sent myself the following dates in an email then put them in iCal:

10 May 08
May 10 08
10/5/08

5/10/08


It got the first three right and entered them on 10 May but changed the last one to Oct 5. Obviously, it is looking at each from a European viewpoint so an date using the American format will be placed as if it was a European one. That is a bit of a bug, alright. iCal (or Mail) needs to look at the source of an email before it makes the convention assumption. It is apparent that we should avoid using the slash version of dates.
