Ditto.

The only oddity I've had so far is the trash on my PowerBook wouldn't open when I clicked the icon. A reboot fixed that. But other than that, no problems whatsoever.

these are all good to hear. some of the install issues makes me wonder how the heck betas never found them.... and ftr i always do clean installs. I learned my lesson in the os8 days, trust me.

keep em coming! i will be running up to the Apple store this afternoon to grab my copy, seems the issues are far greater and far more severe than tiger.

p.s. y'all having airport issues?

Only real problem (other than not being able to read the install disk) to speak of is that lopard froze on me once yesterday, not sure what caused it.

Everything seems to be running fine.

I did a clean install and have no problems. Although, I think Apple should have polished a few things some more. They rushed a bit in my opinion to release the leopard.

I just popped the disk in, did a default install. Very seamless. Only problem was that I had to reinstall my LaserJet Printer. Otherwise, working great. It's running very fast, very smooth. The machine (MacPro) seems to be running a little hotter, but I did find that under Leopard, I now have SMC fan control of my power supply fan, whereas I didn't under 10.4.9

No Issues for me on my 2.2 SR MBP :) Did a clean install. Chose not to install extra languages, extra printers drivers, and X11 so the install took up a little over 6 GB and only took 20 minutes. :)

Of all the people who done a clean install, do any of you have network hard drives connected and working fine? Cause there seems to be an issue with them over wireless networks. Thats the only problem I've had, and I just upgraded Tiger.

I'm running the same Tiger for about 18 months and have never had any problems so I didnt want to do a clean install even though everything is already backed up.

Also, Leopard needed 6gb to install on top of the space taken up by Tiger. Is this right? It seems an awful lot of space. Would it free up a few gigs if I done a clean install?

Upgrade worked like charm and without any glitches. My private MBP (see sig.) has got a real power boost. Boot time under thirty seconds! I am testing hard since five hours and couldn't find any bug.

Really impressive for a six-months-switcher like me!

I've had no problems. Upgraded a core 2 duo macbook pro, Mac Pro, and a G5 power mac. It was an "upgrade" not clean install, the only thing I did was uninstall groupcal which I do even when upgrading point releases (10.4.9, .10 etc).

Oct 27, 2007, 03:20 PM
I did an Archive and Install and it kept all my hacks (such as Clear Dock) from Tiger and it isn't as smooth as I'd expect.

Going to do a clean install - think it'll help?

I did a clean install and everything is working fine on my Core Duo MBP. In fact it feels much faster than Tiger did.

bigandy
Oct 27, 2007, 03:38 PM
clean install went like a charm.

only issue so far is time machine - it spent all day backing up just 70Gb data to an FW drive, then got to the end and just sort of gave up. i'm not sure what went wrong, but i'm not bothered. i'll set it going again on a 500Gb FW disk instead of a 120Gb, so there's more space for more backups, hopefully it'll be fine this time.

i'm happy - because it's the best start i've had to a new version of Mac OS X yet. :D

No issues here.
Erase and install on a Quad G5 Powermac with 4GB Ram.

I think it seems like everyone has issues because the people with problems are more vocal. People with no problems are busy exploring and playing with the new cat, not on the forums bitching. ;)

Sidenote: Coverflow/Quicklook are amazing. Spotlight and Smart folders are awesome as well. My one gripe is, I wish I could turn off stacks and get my old "folder with menus" functionality back.

Upgrade install then a Clean install on a Mac Pro (couldn't wait to try out Leopard last night so did a quick upgrade on my Mac Pro before clearing it down this morning :)), and upgrade installs on 2 Mac Book Pros (1 with Bootcamp and XP on) and zero problems on any of them

No issues here after a clean install. When I plugged my iphone in it took the setting from mail and applied them and then added my entire address book as well as calendar appts into iCal.

No problems at all and it feels quicker than Tiger. Not one complaint especially since I used my apple credit and only paid $40 for it.

I did an upgrade at first but experienced some bugs. This morning I did an erase & install since I have a backup drive and now it's flying. I'm quite impressed with setup assistant and its usage of my backup drive. All my settings are the same and iTunes and iPhoto are exactly as I left them. Next major release I'll be doing an erase & install.

Did an upgrade on my mbp 2.33 3gb. No issues worth mentioning.

Have been suffering minor application problems but those are solely due to their incompatibility with leopard. No issues whatsoever during leopard upgrade itself.

Still haven't loaded it on my MBP, but on the Mac Pro install was painless. I think it took about 20 minutes. About 4 hours to reinstall all other programs. I RAIDed together a couple 150G 10K drives for my start up volume and it is running slick as hell.

PowerBook G4, no issues as of yet. I don't have an external drive, so I haven't tried out Time Machine yet. I did notice that I can't share my screen with another Leopard user on iChat, maybe because I've got a second monitor (time to search the forums, methinks).

I'll do a clean install once my external shows up and I can back up some stuff. My computer has not been wiped in its 10.3/10.4/10.5 lifetime, so maybe I'll turn up some bugs when I try that.

Those of you that haven't had problems, did any of you have clear dock installed? I am still waiting for my UTD disk, but I am worried the unsanity clear dock is going to mess up my install. I have already uninstalled the application enhancer and clear dock. I plan on doing an archive and install. Do you think I will be alright?

Clean install and no problems with Leopard.

The only issues I have had are all external: EyeTV not finding channel lineup on server (resolved itself around midnight), and .Mac not syncing my calendar (still not working, but according to .Mac: sync is till undergoing maintenance, I also found a workaround to get my calendar data back).

yep, should add my voice to the number of us who have had no problems wiht the upgrade.
did my MacBook on Friday night - went without a hitch

i tried upgrading my old iLamp G4 but apparently it's not up to the minimum system requirements - that's the only issue i've had so far, but i'm not too concerned as i didn't buy a copy of Leopard for that anyway, just in case, but tonight i'll be upgrading my intel iMac and we'll see how that goes

Aside from some issues with ilife in the first minutes, pre update, I thought that I was doing good until I started working with Dashboard.

I started a thread explaining the issues after I looked around for any other posts or threads.

I got a MBP at the Leopard first sale that was supposed to have Leopard pre-installed, and didn't. I just stuck the dvd in and did an upgrade, figuring that the system didn't have time to pick up any lint.

If more bizarre things happen, I may blow the drive and clean install it although I've already started 'nesting'...

The upgrade said that it would take 2.5 hours to do but took alot less time, thank god...

I've done an archive and install on two systems (iMac Core Duo and PowerBook G4) and both went just as smooth as silk. Leopard seems a lot more stable and faster than both Panther and Tiger were at their initial release from my experience.

Did an upgrade on 2 machines: A MBP and a 12" PB. Everything seems hunky dory, apart from some issues with the X11 implementation (which will hopefully be fixed by Apple soon). As usual I have no issues running an "upgrade" as opposed to a clean install. In fact the PB has been upgraded from Jaguar->Panther->Tiger->Leopard.

I waited a day after I got mine delivered to me yesterday, just to read on here about potential issues (and so I could make sure I had up to date backups of my docs). After installing it, I didn't have a single issue! I'm a new user of Mac, as of September, and I'm never going back to that OTHER system!

Haven't bought Leopard yet but I plan on doing an upgrade on my Core Duo MBP.

Does doing an upgrade still preserve "teh snappy"? I know it's not like a Windows upgrade where everything slows down because it replaces files wrong or whatever.

I'd do archive and install but I simply have to many programs installed to go hunting them down and reinstalling

Other than Photo Booth being quirky on first boot, a reboot later I was good. Indexing finished and Safari is smooth as silk and the whole system seems to have extra spunk over Tiger. I like it a lot! So I am not having leopard issues at all really.

Note: I had one app that runs in Rosetta only, but it sucked in Tiger too, so its just poor coding, not really Leopard's fault. I never use it anyhow, so I got rid of it.

Was forced into a clean install on my ALiMac, that was the only issue. Then did an Update on my MBP which has a BootCamp partition; the install took a while, ok a good while; but all is well and working speedily. No more freeze ups on the iMac by the way.

Installed on 2 ibooks with dead cd drives via firewire.
1g and 1.33 12 inch models and NO problems installing at all.
Was relatively quick for being older systems. 2 hours.
Have tried a few things in the new OS and everything seems great.
Have not yet tried TM on these as I don't have an external drive.
Will post back when I test it.

BTW. This was a clean install... the drives had to be wiped as they were from some ebay seller that did not have a clue about the Apple OS and they had 3 partitions on the tiny 40 gig hds.

Will try on my Powerbook later... glad I saw some of the posts about Unsanity product problems. Got to do some cleaning before hand.

Clean install on a zeroed-out 1st gen macbook. Safari seems to hang up on me a bit but Firefox 2.0.0.8 works just fine. Exercised most of the system settings and haven't noticed any issues. No finder issues, no hardware panics of any kind. My Cisco VPN works. Everything seems faster. My MSword started up with the wrong localization for some reason, but it works. Tried bootcamp and installed ubuntu 7.10 and -that- worked, although ubuntu kernel panicked after install and (i assume) during the restart, it hasn't done anything wierd since then after multiple restarts. Haven't tried any Rogue Amoeba or Ableton or Serato yet. Me stoked.

Installed on a Core 2 White iMac and a 15" PowerBook G4 1.67. The powerbook took about an hour to index the drive for spotlight and the battery is claiming I have over 12000mAh to charge. Other than that, no real issues or problems. Both machines are speedy.

I had a bug during install but nothing since. When restarting to install the screen would go extremely dim and I was unable to change it. I could barely see anything, I had to hold it at an angle to see the choices. Once finished and rebooted I was able to turn up the brightness again. No issues after that. I did a dirty install.

I have had numerous issues with Leopard, the most annoying of which is that Time Machine does not work. It keeps crashing. This is one of the major reasons I made the upgrade. Most of the other stuff is window dressing.

Otherwise, among other things, I have disappearing icons, icons that change when you drag them to another location, issues with emptying the trash.

Works almost perfectly - even Safari seems snappier (just joking ... well, it does seem faster but who knows?).

One application crash so far. I have Vine Server running instead of Apple's Remote Desktop, and my Mac shows up in the Shared list. If you try to connect to that, the Screen Sharing application crashes. No biggie.

Everything else works fine.

I did an upgrade install. First I updated my SuperDuper clone (10 minutes), shut down, disconnected everything except for the mouse and keyboard, rebooted, skipped the DVD verification, and installed (another 20 minutes for all that). I was running Leopard 30 minutes after sitting down at my desk.

I'm running a first gen Intel 1.83 GHz CD iMac.

Don't forget that people with problems will be louder than those who don't. This is true on the VW forum I'm on as well -- you can get the impression that model X is a lemon, when in reality the large majority of people who have no problems whatsoever will not post.

I've never had any problems so far. I did have Shapeshifter and APE installed, but I uninstalled them first, and upgraded Little Snitch to v2. The only app that actually bombed out on me was a MUD client (Atlantis) and upgrading that to a version compiled especially for Leopard users without the Perl support that caused the crash (I don't need that feature) fixed the problem.

I do most of my work in Photoshop which I knew would work fine from reports I'd seen before upgrading. And so far, with my doing some editing of personal files, that's held true.

I'm sure if I do run into any problems, I can deal with them as they come, but so far so good.

Everyone's probably replied by now, but I've had zero problems with Leopard and I did an upgrade, no archive.

That said, I'm not wild about some of the Leopard changes. In particular stacks is of little use and they removed the very useful view of folders that were already present in Tiger. Giant step backwards.

And I'm very upset that safariblock no longer works to block ads.

Did a clean install on my July 2007 MacBook Pro 15" - no problems at all, and loving it!

Annnndddddd... Three for three...

Just did an update on the Mac Pro after piloting Leopard on a MacBook and a Mac Mini. Archive and Install.

Only glitch is with Lightwave (version 7.5) - which I am not using right now (going to upgrade in the new year to 9.3 with Intel support).

Set up Time Machine backup onto a dedicated 1T drive. Works so far, but I'll still clone the system off to an external drive too. Another copy never hurt.

Did an "Upgrade" install this morning and all is going GREAT! It looked a little scary at first (no big issues) with slow application launches and inability to see my previous mail folders. At permissions repair and a few reboots it began to tighten up. Did a software update that claimed to be fixing apps I am not using. I don't know if that corrected any of the rough edges. After a couple of hours (and several reboots) everything smoothed out.
Runs as well as my factory Tiger install. I had none of the major issues reported in the forum.

Late 2006 20" IMac. 2.16 Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of Ram, 256 Vid Ram. NAS external backup.

3rd party software all running well
Popcorn2
Handbrake
Neo Office
Google Earth
Skype
Maxtor Solutions 11 B/U software
Firefox.

Installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro 2.4 Saturday morning via the Upgrade option and it went smoothly. I then installed the newest Logitech drivers, and my MX Revolution works normally, actually a bit better.

The two problems I've had so far are:
* Parallels 3 gives an error when loading WinXP; but it still runs fine.
* Drivers for Canon Pixma MP600 crash. I can scan, but then the software crashes. Haven't tried printing yet. Canon says they're working on it.

There may be other lurking issues, but I've not explored the new features yet. In general, it runs well.

Archive install. OK for the most part - my 3G iPod seems to make the finder stall... i.e. the time doesn't get updated and I get the beachball in the top right, until I pull out the iPod. Strange

I have problems with inkscape and gimp. neither opens up and it appears there is something up with x11.

Hoping that fixes will come up soon.

I'm having no problems with the OS itself, but I am having trouble with a few PowerPC apps, and FotoMagico.

It could be an issue with the iPod. Try it on another computer.

Upgrade from Tiger. Zero issues. That thing is mind-blowing fast.

i have to ask becuase the seemingly blatant bugs on this release makes it seem like it is not ready for prime time despite being released late.

anyone?

No problems, installed in less than one hour, just a bit slower at startup but
still miles faster than microsoft. Leopard seems to be the Neo.
