Or better yet, if you are able to categorise a rumour as the thread unfolds, how about a link top/bottom of the thread to "More rumors like this" or "Recent rumors about (whatever)" - Just like Amazon!!

That way we don't have to look at the bottom of the main page, the related info is right at hand in a contextual fashion!

And while you are at it, its time for a colour change - maybe brushed aluminium??? :D

That last bit was a joke btw.

Its all good Arn!

it's kind of funny looking at the page powerbook.macrumors.com, i mean there's so many rumors there, even going back to March 8th!

aw, i prefer the chaos of hunting and pecking throughout MR so i can find the rumors that fit my preconcieved notions of reality, or the nonreality of future apple products. the thrill is gone.

a great idea though ...

this is why arn makes the big bucks.

I thought of "software.macrumors.com too", but if most Apple apps are seldom the focus of rumors then perhaps at least "osx.macrumors.com".

Also, iTunes Music Store IS the focus of a lot of rumor attention, so how about "itunes.macrumors.com"?

(I can see you'd only bother with the major/frequent rumor topics--no need to get out of contro!--but I like what's been done.)

Categorization is good. I fear nobody will see those links though (and I'll easily forget...). May I suggest a dropdown menu towards the top of the page instead?

The PowerBook rumors archive had to be pretty easy to setup.

New PowerBooks to be released in the next 2 weeks.

New PowerBooks to be released in the next 1 weeks.

how about macrumors.macrumors.com where you can post rumors about macs ....:) I like the sub-domains...dont' over extend yourself tho...you've done a great job of keeping everything interlaced so far ...

How about creating a forum for naive clueless people to post wistful optimistic and incredibly misguided or ill-informed speculation about the G5 Powerbooks coming next week? (And the week after that, and after that).

Not to be negative, but I think you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you should do is the ability to filter out the categories you find irrelevant.

For example, in my case I'm interested in Powerbook and xServe rumours, but not much else. With the current scheme, I have to either visit two addresses or keep using the main page.

My suggestion: have a setup screen (or, since there are so few categories, you could keep it on the front page) like this:

Show: [x] Powerbook [ ] iBook [ ] xServe

This would be far more useful than separate domains for each area.

This reminds me of the old-school rumors sites that used to have pages devoted to the latest rumors about various Apple products. Like they'd have a Power Mac page, and it would have the most accurate known spects and codename of the Power Mac, and stuff. That was sweet.

Great job, Arn! I like the links archive idea. I know I will make use of it in the future. Keep up the good work!

The pages aren't meant to be live-updated pages... in fact they are only "refreshed" once a day... so content on them is delayed by up to 24 hours.

They are an archive... for people to catch up.

If you only read those pages, you'll miss 90% of the content on MacRumors. Whether that's the goal or not is your own decision. :)

I got one more idea for the site arn (if you still read this thread) how about a listing of sites you get the rumors from, or people, who give a lot of rumors, and keep track. for instance "Apple Turns (3/4) stated we should..." or any site who gives the rumor, the (3/4) being the stats, like they've been correct on 3/4 of their rumors that you've had on the page or something, so if we see 14 rumors that never happened from somerumorsite.com, we know not to believe them as much when they're saying g8 powerbooks coming out next week.
