Did they ever implement a way to add Skype contact address info to an address book entry? Seems like a glaring deficiency to not allow for other IM types.

That's not what's needed. It's non-standard. And doesn't work for plugins like Plaxo. We need Apple to open up a smidgen and formally add Skype and others to the IM options. Better still let this be a fully custom field.
